Saw this on reddit. Interesting. Also HBK is 15

Dwight was asked why would he not wear #14 and told reporters he doesn't want to talk about what he puts in his body. -sources

Sorry for the large image, dunno how to resize it.

Seriously?? Are those their normal numbers from years past or did a number change out of need on new team, or instead to accomplish this? I know LeBron did but thought it was to allow AD to have 23 back?

I know 0, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 were theirs from previous years. Rondo should be 9 but idk why he chose 4 this time. From there, they probably intentionally filled the gaps with the newcomers to accomplish this - coz Dream Team.

This just shows the chemistry that we're building this year. Awesome!

At first I was like "#8 is missing"... for a tiny fraction of a second, of course. I guess I was just looking at the sequence of numbers first.

#14 is not retired, so we should've done something about that.

Frank Vogel has seen the Melo and Russ starting tip off routine. It's happening!

I think Monk will be our starting SG asap, but I'll be surprised to see a different starting lineup that the one with Jordan as center and Davis as PF. AD is gonna play the crunch minutes as a center, but I don't think Vogel wants to start him in that position.

I think our big 3 will not play over 30 minutes during the first 10 to 20 games in order to give everyone an opportunity as we start to setup our rotations

    Russ 30
    AD 28
    Lebron 26
Nunn/Monk/THT 24 (more PT to the guy more hot each night)
    Bazemore 20
    Dwight 20
    Rondo 15
    Melo 15
    DeAndre 14

Ellington and Reaves will play when DNPs of any of the above. Maybe Ellington gets <10min with Rondo or our trifecta having a little cut in their minutes

Kind of figured this to be the plan after they decided to play Bron and Russ against GS.

We'd give each duo a chance to play with Russ while resting the other to figure out what that'll look like.

Since Vogel said they'd take the last two games a little more seriously, I wonder how much we should read into AD starting at the 5 for this game

Sounds like we'll only have Monk back...

Well, it's great to have Monk, since he's been one of the bright spots in the preseason. Good scorer , athletic, versatile shooter, we can definitely use him. THT is another important piece, but he's out till December, probably. Ellington doesn't seem as important - although he does add depth, and Nunn, being listed as "questionable," is probably going to be available very soon. Basically, both him and Ellington are listed as day-to-day, but we should be more careful with Wayne, due to his age. So, we might be in a good spot very soon if no other injuries happen. We'll see.

    Russ/Rondo/(Nunn coming back soon)
Monk/Reaves/(Ellington might take a couple of weeks if necessary)
Bazemore/LeBron (will have to split minutes and play the 3 some more for now)
LeBron/AD/Carmelo (we depend on Melo being healthy for a while here)
    AD/Dwight/DJ (we're rock solid at the big 4 & 5 for now).

In a nutshell: losing Ariza sucks, losing THT means less depth at the 2/3, but if Bron is healthy and with the emergence of Reaves we're probably OK, and Ellington being out for now isn't going to hurt us much. IMO, of course.

Is it safe to say that any time you use a 1-2 "punch" of Russ/Rondo, bad things happen? Like WTF are they thinking? It's not that complicated:

    1. Any PG + good shooting guard + Bazemore + Bron + AD = very good.
    2. Any PG + good shooting guard + Bron + Melo + Dwight = good.

That's it, with minor variations. But Russ+Rondo is not a variation that should be used, and DJ/Dwight should not start, but come off the bench.

the "AD, you defend literally everyone" lineup. that one's an abomination.

the lebron and dwight defend everyone is a little better, but it becomes the "you better hit jumpshots monk and melo" lineup on offense.

if there's an emerging lineup theme it's that we can only have one weak defender on the floor at a time. and right now, do we have enough guys to field enough lineups given that constraint? yikes.
