Luke says he's focussed on other things besides winning. Trying out big and small lineups, seeing who works well with whom, etc. But you know these guys are dying to break out and rid the stench from the Lakers franchise of the last 3 pre and regular seasons. As well other teams will be doing the same as Luke. First up tomorrow night the Kings. Woohoo!! Lakers basketball is finally back after the long gap once again from no playoffs through the nail biting of the lottery, draft, free agency and all the hard work on their own time and in camp with Luuke. Do we have a shot at winning this game?
I don't even know who's on their roster besides the top 3 or 4 without looking it up. But I can't wait to see what our team looks like getting after it against anyone. With all the athleticism and speed we have, the skills and the size of our team. Let's see the kind of competitors we have. I have a hunch this team may shock and amaze this year. Luke has an awful lot of weapons to play 3 moves ahead when most others as Kobe has stated with him as a player .... are only figuring 2. Look what they did in Boston, though in the East, with way less talent because of the great young coach.
I just hate how many preseason games there are. Instead of 8 games, why not be 4 or 5. Gives you enough games to check the talent and reduce the chance of a useless injury.
Given the number of games in a season, it's not crazy outrageous. Shoot, doesn't football have 4? Young legs play every day. Vets you just monitor and ramp up minutes.
I'd say if they had less games, they would play more scrimmages which means risk of injury is still there. But of course teammates don't play you as dirty as opponents.
Pre-season was such a confusing time last year trying to figure out what the other guy was doing with lineups. Wasn't a big issue though until unfortunately that rolled on right into the regular season and continued and continued. Looking forward to righting the ship and getting some stability in there like, if Tarik Black out plays the bigs then let Tarik play. Not that crazy veteran-loving-no matter-how-bad-thing that went on last year.
Still didn't know his starting line up or rotation 20 games into the season. What kind of f***ed up amateur stuff is that?
I wonder what fringe players will be playing heavy minutes fighting for the last spots? For sure we have: Russell/Calderon Clarkson/Williams/Young Deng/Ingram/Brown Randle/Nance/Yi Moz/Black/Zubac So it's between Huertas, Auguste, Robinson and Metta. Metta is just getting reps in, we don't need another SF. Auguste is still young, a good prospect, better off in the D-league. And Robinson I'm not too high on as we have a similar, more effective player in Tarik. Which means Huertas is probably the one as we need PG depth and he's been apparently impressing during camp.
