    When I hear "he's a coach we can grow with" all I hear is "we're gonna deal with him losing for a few years till he figures it out"

    I'm so sick and tired of losing

    We all want to win. You are not alone. It is fine to have your own personal preference for coach. Messina isn't my first choice, but if he is hired, I'll give him a shot. I understand your concern and everyone of these coaching candidates have flaws. I would suggest just being open-minded kicking back and witnessing what transpires this off-season. I think we''ll all be genuinely surprised by the positive things that will take place.

    I really hope you're right. But in the back of my head I'm looking at the fact that we haven't hired a good coach other than Phil in 17 years! Take out Phil and we have a horrible record of coaching hires.

    I definitely get this, but there is going to be a lot of additional work that needs to be done regardless of the coach. I think Luke and Messina can turn us around, but we have a long road ahead of us no matter who we have on the sidelines next year.

    As far as Luke's coaching ability, I think its somewhere in the middle of all the hyperbole. He's a great coaching prospect though.

    Agreed. I think we will end up looking back at this offseason as the one where we really started to turn the ship around.

    Honestly, I also think having one of the best coaching prospects out there choose the Lakers is a good look that will go over well with free agents.

    NOT having Boron as our coach any more is a good look that will go over well with free agents and has already started to turn the ship around. Thank god he's gone.

    Anyone of the prospects mentioned is better than Boron (even Doug Collins!), so at least there's that at a minimum. I think the main targets are good choices. I do fear the retreads a little.
