Looking at C Bags Contracts. Crowder has a very reasonable contract. I'd even go as far as saying he'll outperform his contract. So, you can center a deal around Brooklyn's Top 3 pick, Crowder, Amir Johnson (whose contract isn't guaranteed for next season) and Jonas Jerekbo (same contract not guranteed). That's 17 million dollars that Sacramento can acquire and waive while just netting picks and a good asset in Crowder; or keep Amir and Jerekbo who are both very serviceable. Olynyk, and Smart, might be moved, too. There's just more options on the table that can be worked out with Boston.
Assuming we keep the pick, we can offer more. It's just about whether or not we are willing to do give up everything for that player. I actually see Boston making a run more at Jimmy than Cousins though. That offer should get it done for Jimmy. I would think an offer of Pick, Lou, Clarkson would also get it done with Chicago. Just depends on what they value and hopefully Chicago would rather see Jimmy go West (and Cousins go East) so that they don't have to see their player 4 times a year.
That's my hope. I heard this from Windhorst. In February, after the trade deadline, when Ainge announced he had a deal for a star in place, the word was it was Butler. By the way, I think the Clips blow it up, too; Griffin, Paul, or DJ might be available.
The only reason the Clippers won't blow it up: Rivers isn't about to stick around and coach a rebuilding team. If they blow it up, he'll either stop coaching to be full-time GM or he'll just retire all together. No way he has the patience for what the Blazers are doing. I'm hoping we keep our pick and Chicago takes something like Lou/Top 3/maybe Nance Jr./#32 for Butler. That's a dream come true for me. I think it's a good trade for both sides and I think Mitch can convince Chicago that they don't want to see Butler running around in C bag green in the playoffs or seeing them 4 times a year. I know I wouldn't want that. I think Cousins is a better fit in Boston anyway to be honest. They need a big man and he needs that structure.
Agreed. Remember the Woj article; Butler wanted to come to Los Angeles. 'For Chicago, there’s no challenge to retaining Butler. As a restricted free agent, the Bulls have matching rights on any offer sheet. Nevertheless, Chicago could be faced with Butler’s agents at Relativity Sports, Happy Walters and Steve McCaskill, loading up a short-term offer sheet that includes a trade kicker and the potential loss of Butler to unrestricted free agency in 2017. As Butler spends time in Los Angeles this summer, a stretch that’s included an overseas “Entourage” promotional jaunt with producer Mark Wahlberg, Butler’s intrigue with signing a potential Los Angeles Lakers offer sheet has increased, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Butler has preliminary plans to pursue meetings with several teams once free agency starts in July, sources said. Several teams pursuing Butler told Yahoo Sports that they’re under the impression a short-term, max money offer sheet is the wisest way to approach Butler this summer. Unless Bulls officials bring Butler a shorter-term deal that’s more favorable to his long-term earning power, they’ll likely be waiting to match an offer sheet, league sources said. Butler could sign a three-year offer sheet that guarantees him $50 million, but allows for a player option on the third year that could allow him to move into unrestricted free agency and re-sign for a five-year, maximum deal worth as much as $190 million. It is understandable why Chicago wants Butler locked into a five-year, $90 million max extension under the current salary structure, but that appears to be a deal Butler plans to pass on.' http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source...rsue-shorter-term-offer-sheets-212134060.html
It makes sense for all four parties, but we're going to need that pick before we can draw up these master plans.
If we trade for Cousins then I want JC and Russell gone. Cousins will poison them, they're too influenced by their surroundings. Randle is the only of our young 3 who isn't impressionable and has the focus needed not to get caught up in childish antics. I don't want to move both of them and don't like cancerous players, so I pass on cousins. Plus giving a rookie coach that task of dealing with him is bad news.
If this is what it takes to get back to the top and attract other top tier players this offseason pull the trigger and don't look back.
Unless it guarantees getting Durant this year, I honestly think it would be a mistake to trade any of our young pieces or a top 2 pick if we keep it. Under a good coach, I really think Russell, Clarkson, Randle, Nance, and Simmons/Ingram can grow together into a very solid core that will attract top tier free agents within a year or two.
Looking at this from a skill and talent only perspective: Cousin and Randle in the front court...... wow
They have a good rapport as well. We could really set up shop with that front court. The two of them together could truly dominate. It would make a pretty good antidote to the small ball of GS. I think the FO would actually try to get this done if at all a possibility. Much more so than Butler, even though I like Butler as well. As realdeal, said though - first we need to secure the pick before any real speculation.
Would you willing to trade Clarkson, Russell either #1 or #2 pick for Cousins? not knowing that we will be able to sign Durant Very tempting, but still very risky as well.
I'd be willing to trade Clarkson and the pick - even a 1 or 2. I wouldn't put Russell or Randle on the table. Cousins is basically the epitome to me of a high risk high reward player.
Speculation of course, but if this comes to a possibility, we may need a strong presence on the bench and coaching staff. Which is why we would probably need to retain Metta and get an assistant like Fisher to join, people who know how to deal with personalities like Cousins. Surround him with people he's comfortable with. But I'm not gonna lie, I'm drooling over the possibility of a Cousins and Randle front court, especially if we can manage to keep Russell. And hey, that may be enough for Durant to give us a serious look if and when the time comes. But at the very least we add DeRozan, and with the right coach, we could be a legitimate playoff team.
The idea of Boogie and Randle together is very intriguing, considering Boogie has a mid range shot. Its a very high risk and big gamble to trade for him, it might cost us both Russell and JC and the pick too but man I'd think about it for sure. Load up the bench with vets to keep a certain someone's head on straight. Very intriguing but Boogie's red flags really stand out.
DD had an awful showing tonight. And Batum is out after 15 mins with the same injury that cause him to miss games 3 and 4.
I'm not touching Cousins. Sorry, but the guy has to show me that he'll act like a mature player. He's not done that yet. The Kings had a decent team this season. Should've at least been an eight seed and Cousins couldn't even get them do that. He's not a good team leader and doesn't make his teammates better. No way I'm giving up D'Angelo for him.
Believe me, we will not give them that many assets. No way. If we are able to keep and package the pick and Clarkson I believe we'll do it. But no chance we give up both Clarkson and Russell. Not happening.
