In that case it'd be great for a cameo but they would be inadvertently spoiling the ending of the show, right?

Reading through you guys' posts, I get the feeling you have every available peace of information about that SW universe. Are there any information available about the caracter to be played by Donnie? Is there any chance he'll be a jedi?

I'm strangely more hyped for this than episode 8!

I'm a little worried about the lead actress based on that trailer though. I did NOT like that line "it's a rebellion, I rebel." Hopefully it sounds better in context in the film. And I get that we're becoming more progressive as a society, but I honestly hope this isn't another film with an in-your-face-take-no-crap-scrappy female lead in the vein of Divergent or Hunger Games (or even the newest X-Men films to a degree) and instead is more of an ensemble feature.

    I don't think so. I think he's just a badass warrior guy.

The producers have described this movie as a world without Jedi. So I doubt Donnie is a Jedi. And if he were, he's fighting so might as well use his lightsaber, not a vibroblade or whatever it is. No reason to hide your Jedism.

I loved episode 7 and I think I'm going to like this better than 7, holy crap that trailer was crazy!!
I also have a bias for Donnie Yen, I like every movie he's in by default.

Been waiting for this teaser trailer for what feeling like forever. Freaking awesome. Couldn't stop smiling, cannot wait. We get to see the SW universe from the battle zone, with no Jedi, real soldiers, during the OT time period, and coolest of all to me, you know Vader is back. Never thought I'd see that on the big screen again. The season finale of Rebels IMO used Vader brilliantly, can't wait for more.

Yeah you're probably right. A shame, he would make a perfect Jedi. As Real mentioned, he's gonna be a badass warrior so I probably shlouldn't be too down. BTW, if there are supposed to be NO Jedi at all, he should be the badassest of all the warriors in this movie.

This X 1,000. In my not so humble opinion, Ip Man is the best action/fighting movie outside of the old Bruce Lee ones.

I'm hearing/reading things that Donnie is a blind warrior that is Force sensitive, hence how he fights? Or he might be a retired Jedi? All speculation of course.

Have you seen the Raid movies? They're amazing. Definitely the next generation of fighting.

I have a feeling they build him up as the absolute most boss fighter, then have him lose dramatically to Vader which further validates how strong Vader really is.

Yes I have, and I liked boith parts but I stil like Ip Man more... way to be honest.

I kind of expected that question, I remember a discussion on this subject in the movies thread. I don't remember if I found the time to comment then but I was planning to. There are at least a few movies of that genre that I liked more than the Raid.

If that's the case, I wonder if they'll try to make Donnie Yen...

Kanan, because of Kanan's loss of sight. But I don't think there's any way you can make Kanan out to be Donnie Yen. They look vastly different and all the other characters in Rebels that have appeared in the films look like their animated counterparts.

There are reports that Rebels may end after the 3rd season, leading right into or up to Rogue One. I think it's highly possible or even likely, as it would explain why we don't see hardly anyone or anything from it in the original movies. It would also of course allow for appearances from Rebels characters in Rogue One as well, if they wanted to do that. I'd be all for them connecting the show and the movie in a little way if they wanted, or even with some important characters introduced in the 3rd season of Rebels.

Yeah I'm down with all that and I kind of expect them to go that route. I hear they're trying to come up with a show set after Episode 4 now and between 4-5 or maybe between 5-6. I know the guys on the cartoon side want to try to get Luke involved in the show so that they can explore his side a bit more.

There's a rumor going around that Luke finds a certain Force user between 5-6 that teaches him some tricks of the trade... Someone who is neither a Jedi nor a Sith...

Wow I completely disagree. I found their fighting to be fantastic and raw. IP man is great, but still way more old-school to me. The realism of the Raid world, the violence, it's the next stage in that genre.

And for what it's worth, I still find Jackie Chan's the most entertaining. Not because he was the greatest martial artist out of all of them, but he put by far the most effort into his film making (especially his Chinese work).

Interesting. With the old canon gone, that would certainly help explain some of his growth between 5 and 6. We don't need to see that stuff, as we used to get it in books, but I'm certainly not against it like some people who insist on things being left mysterious. I don't mind that viewpoint, I just don't share it. They're making a whole new canon through comics, novels, cartoons, and I think it's awesome for people who want to and are able to follow all of it. I'm only able to keep up with a lot of what's going on with canon by watching Collider Jedi Council.

The only part I haven't been able to keep up with is the novels. I've watched all the movies and shows and I read most of the comics (although I wait for the trade paperbacks usually). The books though... they got off to a shaky start and they haven't made one that I'm really all that interested in.
