Young's shooting has been pretty awful though. Worse than even Metta and Kobe. We really need to try and get two quality small forwards this summer. SF and C should be the highest priority.
Kobe had a rough start tonight, but he turned it on in the 3rd, caught fire there for a while. Didn't seem like he was going to come back in the 4th, but then MWP went Ron Artest. Still, Kobe came out before the end of the game, so they didn't overplay him, was glad to see that.
Great post game interview with Shaq and Kobe. We know they didn't like each other, but it's also clear they know they couldn't have done it without each other. They will forever be linked to each other. They both helped mold one another. They both pushed each other and they won three consecutive titles. You can't beat that. You could tell C-Webb was like having to face one was tough enough, but both at the same time was just unfair.
Yesterday was precisely how we should have used Kobe all along: sitting in the 4th while the young guys do their thing. Give him his opportunity to be the man and give the fans a little show, but when it comes down to it he's not our future anymore. He shouldn't be closing games.
Kobe after the game was interviewed from guys on Inside the NBA and Shaq was asking for Kobe to drop 50 in the last game. Kobe was like no way man and laughing. Kobe, I give you full rains that last game to take as many shots as you want. If there was ever so a time I want you to just let it rip, that's the game. Who else is on board with this?
I want him to shoot every shot. Not even kidding. It's his last game. The man gave us everything he had and then some for two decades. It's his last game. Gave us endless memories of greatness. I don't see why not. He deserves. After everything he's put in to this thing. All the joy he's given us. The championships. The incredible performances. He's been the heart and soul of the Lakers for 20 years. Go get 50 hell go get 100 Kobe.
I wish his final game was against a player he like playing against or has been a competitor of his for years, Utah is kind of boring in those terms. Sure we faced them every year during the most recent championship run but no one is left from that team. Would have liked it if it was against Dallas, Spurs, Boston, Miami, Cavs, Knicks.
Would be awesome if Allen was still playing and on the C Bags and KG, Pierce, Rondo, and Perkins were still on that team and Kobe played them in his final game and dropped 60 on him. Perfect way to ride off into the sunset.
I agree, but I think its kind of cool that for his final game he's facing a team he's had some personal battles against in terms of fans in Utah and more importantly it was really against this team in 1997 that turned Kobe into a monster after the 3 straight airballs. To think back to that time and him closing the doors to his career by facing the same franchise I think is pretty cool in a way.
