Whatever Lou scores, he gives up on the other end and some. So no, I don't like watching Lou, period.
That's not really true. Lou plays the passing lanes better than anyone else on the team I'd say. Besides, he's not any worse defensively than any of our other guards so the point is almost moot. I understand not liking him for being a black hole offensively, but he still works hard for the team and is a guy teammates seem to like.
D'Angelo definitely has a nose for it and people constantly underestimate his length. Lou has been around the block though and just has more experience with it. He's been able to do it for longer. As they progress I expect D'Angelo to be a much better defender and Clarkson should too, but for now Lou has the edge in the passing lanes just due to experience.
i like lou; he's just not a great fit for the team right now. this could clear up next year, though, if the lakers get a 3 and D sf or two in FA. i'm also partial to anyone who has chosen to join the lakers in their current state; even swaggy.
Hmm....I do not know where you're getting that Lou is great at reading passing lanes....I've honestly not seen anything good from Lou on the defensive end. I just feel like having Lou gives Byron an excuse to not play Clarkson or Russell. And I hate that we have to deal with it for potentially another season.
What a surprise. Lou comes back and Byron starts giving D'Lo the cold shoulder again. Wish we never signed him.
I really like Lou but I wish we traded him at the deadline. The dude is eating into Russell's and JC's playing time and development all because BS is an idiot.
I disagree. I wish we'd fired Byron at or before the deadline so that a smarter coach could use him more effectively. I'd be okay with trading Lou to help the team, but he provides something solid. I'm not going to just give him up for nothing.
Would it shock you to learn that Lou has played less minutes than either D'Angelo or Jordan this year? Lou- 1746 Russell- 1836 Jordan- 2091 Huertas- 552 Lou just has more experience so he's able to read lanes more easily. D'Angelo and Jordan have played better defensively lately, but it's been inconsistent as it normally is with young players. I think you're going to see what you want to see about Lou. If you don't like him, you're just going to see the negative things he brings. I like Lou. I know he can be an offensive black hole, but what he brings is valuable as well.
Lou is playing solid, and I seriously don't understand the notion that we should downgrade our bench (and team) to give our young players more minutes. How does that make any sense? Perhaps we should starting cutting all our talented vets, Bass and Roy included, to maximize Randle and Nance with 40 minutes each? And blaming the players for their earned minutes.... not the coach? That is some messed up logic.
And to say some of these vets "earned" their minutes is entirely debatable. When the young guys clearly earn their minutes, Boron sends them to the bench. It seems pretty obvious none of them are too happy playing for Scott.
Oh of course firing Byron is the answer to most of our woes but the team made it clear that he was going to last the season. Trading Lou was my knee-jerk reaction to last night game. He's solid for us for his price tag if used correctly but he hasn't been.
