.... and of course he would throw "that" out there rather than go anywhere near "his" not having the young guys "ready to play" or his stupid substitution patterns re-visited or anything at all with the coaching part of the battle (speaking of great guy "to be in a foxhole with"). Seriously, has he ever said "WE" this year in post game blame placing? He has to have, right? Anyone ever heard it?

listen to a rick Carlisle post-loss press conference, or an svg post-loss press conference, then listen to Byron. then cry and cry.

...not to mention a great like Bird. Then there's Bernard King, Gervin...that Curry guy up north. Senility? Selective amnesia?

Just another excuse blaming someone else for the completely crappy game the team played, and for not being ready to play the Knicks that night. That Carmelo is the greatest "scorer" of all times .... of all times!!

    LMFAO

The need to praise a guy unnecessarily just to be nice? I don't know. Could be anything.

    Well anything except intelligence.

Not to take away from Carmelo because the guy really is a great scorer, but please. Let's not lose sight here.

I'm still liking my idea of getting a few thousand Laker fans together and wearing T-Shirts to a Clipper game that say, "I Love the Clippers Until Byron is Gone." A thousand of them in the stands at Staples for a Clipper game would be amazing.

No one could tell Kobe, Magic, Michael, Barkley, Malone, KG, and others would be any good for 3-5 years. He's right!

1.) Way to instill confidence in the young guys.
2.) Of course you want a big time free agent to save your a** because you can't coach for s*** nor can you develop players
3.) How the FO can employ a head coach and have buzz about him returning to a team he doesn't want to coach is beyond stupid.

Mitch over the PA: "Would Byron Scott please report to the principal's office please, Byron Scott report to the principal's office."

in fairness, if the next superstar was a FA, that would be nice, because it would mean it was soon. even if he's wrong about how long it takes to know if someone will be a star, he's sort of right in terms of how long it takes for someone to actually become one.

I mean, I've known Anthony davis was going to be a superstar since his rookie year, but his team is still topping out at 45 wins.

even if Russell or randle ends up a star, it's not going to be next year.

ok, I will now clean myself.

So if you were Randle, Russell or Clarkson you would be fine with your head coach saying that? Regardless if he is right or not, he's the head coach, he's not in a position to say this team needs outside help because no one on this team is going to do it.

depends...if he said it after tonight's game, I'd probably have to just take my whoopin'.

I think you if you take these particular quotes out of the context of Byron's larger body of work, there's nothing too egregious here. in fact, if he was known for more candor and/or insight, they'd make a degree of sense.

what kobe and Byron said is that nobody currently is ready to step into kobe's void. I think that's like, 1000% accurate. unless they sign kevin Durant in the offseason, you'll probably be able to say that next year, too.

so yeah, Byron isn't very sharp in general, but I'm not sure that he's wrong about any of these three statements:

-quickest route to superstar right now would be in FA, given how much cash the lakers have
-it does take a few years to know exactly what a player has. look at leonard, for example.
-nobody is ready to carry this franchise at the moment.

    including him.

Everything he says is stupid. A lot of what he says is unnecessary. I've come to realize this over time. I didn't want him hired as our coach, but when he was I shrugged, said he can't be worse than 'Antoni, figured the Lakers knew what they were doing, and was won over by his speeches and how he carried himself right after he was hired. Boy was I wrong. Whoever said we made a big mistake hiring him back on CL, and I know there were at least a few of you that are here now, you were right on the money. I think Doc was one, RandleROFY you might have been another but I can't quite recall, correct me if I'm wrong. I know I'm forgetting someone else too, forgive me. And if I'm right, credit where it's due you guys.
