Durant to GSW is such a beta move on his part. I don't see that as realistic at all and I believe it's just a rumor that's become popular on the Internet and has gained traction due to the popularity of both sides. I can't remember any occurrence in NBA history where the best player in the game (yes, in my mind he is although it's subjective and debatable) left his own contending team to go join another contending conference rival. Doesn't make sense. Durant wants to win, but not as a piece of the puzzle, essentially being gift-wrapped a title. He wants to win his way...like all the greats in their prime do. I believe he re-ups in OKC on a 1+1 deal, hits the market again in 2017 with Westbrook and Ibaka. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I brought it up before but is Gorgui Dieng a guy we could go after? I think he'd be a great fit. Plus I don't see Whiteside coming here. Just asking as someone who doesn't know anything about his contract situation.
Wolves have control of him for 2 more years and he's still on his rookie deal. We'd probably have to trade them something they want to get him. I think Biyombo would be a good option (and somewhat cheap).
Waaaaay too long of an article (just skimmed it) that requires a simple "Hell yes it is" answer. Sure, just what our budding, young, star capable and friends as players need ..... to deal with another major a-hole and cancer in the locker room following this year's a-hole and cancer in the locker room. Maybe even 2 a-holes in the locker room if this year's a-hole returns in spite of any common sense at all coming from the FO. Come on S S & R ..... you're better than that. http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2016/3/11/11089094/la-lakers-dwight-howard-nba-free-agency
^ Yeah I read that and was going to come here to tell you guys to avoid it, but I forgot. Basically the author's only true reason for getting Dwight is that nobody else will want to sign here and we need the "star power". Go eff yourself. We don't need whatever it is that Dwight Howard brings to a team. I'm glad he reached out to us and we already shot him down.
A little known fact that came out after that press conference and unfortunately was not caught from this camera angle is the only reason Stan kind of backed off what he was saying about Dwight and went instead with his vibe when he walked up .... was there was a large dagger in Dwight's left hand. Stan had already made his point. Live to coach another team. True story.
It warms my heart to see you all come around to the level of hate that I had for Dwight in the 2013 offseason. I was begging for him to leave. I was dreading the very thought of having to root for the guy for 5 years, let alone having to actually watch that pouty man-child play. The "Stay" billboards made me sick to my stomach, what a terrible look for the franchise. Screw Dwight, the only teams he's going to get max from are really bad teams that are desperate for a "star" in name. So he'll either take that money and be on a s*** team, or he'll get real and take less to be on a good team. Considering he's already a champion in his own mind, I can see him taking the money. Then he will continue his decline, rapidly as soon as his athleticism really goes, because he has very little actual basketball skill, probably because taking the time to work and learn fundamental moves isn't "fun". But hey, you can't spell fundamental without "fun"! Too bad Dwight never figured that out when he had guys like Kareem, Hakeem, and Mchale at his disposal as teachers. All that raw physical talent, none of the work ethic to get the most out of it. I will enjoy watching his game fall off a cliff, he will have a good career numbers-wise, and in the end it will be empty. Congrats on the 2009 Finals run, thanks for taking out the C Bags and LeBron, that was your shining moment, it's all downhill from here.
...I'd like to add that SuperClown and his cohorts also beat the Clippers last season with an improbable comeback. For that he gets a teeny, shiny star from me.
I watched the FutureLaker Bowl (Miami vs Toronto). A couple of thoughts on Derozan and Whiteside: - Demar obviously was the best player on the floor in this game. I haven't watched him much, and in the beginning I was a bit concerned that he might be a little PnR reliant which would be unoptimal if we played him at the three spot (If we started him at two, we'd need a real spot up threat at three). But later on he showed a bit of everything, pull ups, iso's, attacking on off-ball screens, etc. He legitimately took over down the stretch and had a great balance between scoring and setting up others. - Defensively, I think he'd still be good at the 3 spot. On ball, he was good no matter who he was matched up with. Off ball I think he did a pretty good job on the closeouts in help position. The one thing we would lack there with him is the ability to switch with the four man- something that Randle tends to do. - Whiteside didn't have a great game despite putting up decent numbers. He got some blocks that I don't think anyone else in the league could have gotten. I liked his soft touch finishing around the basket. I think the refs got in his head a little bit. Towards the end he started to lose focus defensively, giving up some easy ones inside. Derozan got the better of him in the times where they met near the basket. - In terms of intangibles there was some good and bad. One thing that struck me was how much attention he drew on both ends of the floor. Teams are legit scared of his presence near the basket. They were sending waves of guys to box him out. I can imagine Randle having a field day on the offensive glass with Whiteside next to him. On defense you always see guys rush shots around him. On the negative side, he wasn't setting good screens tonight. Very little contact, and the point guards started to go without even using his screens. Overall, I'd be pretty happy with getting either one or both, though there are other good options out there depending on how FA plays out. ^Posted by Fiendishoc on LG; I thought some good insight into two FA's we might be looking into...
