Those are all from this year. I know you hate him Savory and I can tell just watching him he's going to be annoying at times, but that kind of talent? We need that kind of talent...

Out of the 51 games that Hassan has played, he's only had 3 games where he didn't record a block.
Incidentally out of the 51 games he's played, he's had ^^ those 3 games with 10 or more blocks.
He's had 4 or more blocks in 27 out of 51 games. So more than 50% of the time he's going to get you 4 or more blocks in a game.

Yes he's going to be a headache at times. Yes he's going to be a jerk at times. Yes he's a meathead and will probably not be a perfect teammate... He's still a guy in FA that we need to get.

    He's 2nd in FG%
    He's 2nd in PPP as the roll-man.
He's 1st in Blocks Per Game.
    Top 10 in PER (9th).
Despite his abysmal FT shooting, he's 4th in TS%
    He's 3rd in eFG%
    He's 2nd in Rebound%
He's 1st by an insanely wide margin in Block%
    He's 1st in Defensive Rating
He's 5th in Defensive Win Shares
    He's 7th in Win Shares Per/48
    He's 2nd in Defensive Box Plus/Minus

Those are real numbers. Even if he regresses a bit, he's going to be a pretty damn effective defensive player.

I have zero qualms with who he is this season. His knuckleheadedness this season completely acceptable because he's putting up those numbers. But I don't think he is going to regress a little bit. I think it's going to be Eric Dampier like regression. I do think he is going to be a Laker though. I think we will throw the max at him. and I think he'll take it. So I guess I better get on board with it. :speechless:

Btw, I want nothing more than to eat a gigantic helping of crow on this. I want to be wrong very, very badly. ;)

I like Parsons. If his knees act up, there will be an amnesty provision in the new CBA

I'm not even disagreeing with the idea he'll regress. I think you go to a new team, you have new expectations, all that fun stuff and regression is bound to happen. There's also definitely a fear that he'll get fat and happy on all his cash. Absolutely that's something to consider.

Still though we can get him for his max which is only just over 20 million and STILL sign another max deal and STILL get a competent backup Center just in case Whiteside regresses as much as you fear.

Don't get me wrong here. There is risk and those are valid questions. I still think its a risk we have to take at this point.

I'm with this too. I used to be on the fence about Whiteside, but sign me up. If, for whatever he is an absolute train wreck we didn't lose any picks or assets just have to live with a bad contract if we keep him or eventually trade him.

Is he worth more than Biyombo and Afflalo?

Playing like he is this year? Absolutely. Playing like I think he will after he gets paid? No way to know yet. I like Biyombo. I kind of like Afflalo, but think we'd be better off paying a little more to max out Batum. If Durant is not coming this offseason (almost a lock) and it looks like next offseason is an impossibility as well (Durant signs something longer than a 1 + 1 or a with a team like GS) then Batum would be my #1 target this offseason.

We can do Whiteside AND Batum. I'm convinced we are losing our pick at this point. I think we will pass Phoenix, especially with Russell being fully let loose in a offense remotely beneficial to his game. So that draft pick cap hold won't be there. Batum and Whiteside's max contracts would still leave us with enough to sign one more helpful veteran. Like Real mentioned, it should be a center. We are set at guard with Russell, Clarkson, Lou and Swaggy. We are good at forward if we have Batum, Randle, Nance and Brown. Maybe our offseason is Max out Whiteside, Max out Batum and give the rest to Biyombo?

Whiteside and Batum is a bountiful haul. No doubt.

Along with a top-three protected pick, the Lakers are projected to have as much as $65 million in cap space to pursue free agents. While the focus has been on Kevin Durant, the Lakers will be among the teams interested in Chandler Parsons if he decides to opt out of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks, via Tim MacMahon of ESPN:

'The list of teams interested in Parsons will be long, with sources expecting the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets and Magic to be among Parsons’ suitors. If Durant leaves Oklahoma City, add the Thunder to the list, with a potential reunion with Parsons’ coach at Florida, Billy Donovan.'

Not really a 2016 FA thing but two guys just got released that I'd take a shot at:

    James Ennis and Chase Budinger.

Parsons would be a solid addition. He's having a solid year for Dallas. Started off slow coming off knee surgery, but he seems to have found rhythm. He's shooting 42 percent from 3. Not a great defender, but a very good one. I remember him giving Kobe trouble in his rookie season with Houston. Athletic and can finish on the wing as well. All three of these guys Barnes, Parsons, and Batum would all vastly improve floor spacing and perimeter D.

I'm not gonna lie, I will be disappointed if Chandler Parsons was one of, or our main offseason addition. Meh. Then again, IF B0ron isn't fired, we'd be lucky to be getting a FA of even his caliber.

i'd love to see whiteside in LA

too bad it won't happen since he still holds a grudge against the lakers for not working him out before the draft or something like that

Why? He's a major upgrade at the SF position.

At this point beggars can't be choosers.

That's probably the biggest hole on this roster.

I'm definitely hoping Whiteside is high on our list this offseason and we make it happen. Yeah there's a risk that his mental lapses return and are worse than ever here. Or he doesn't care how good he is after he gets his big payday. But there's no doubt he's 1 of the most talented players on the market and his strengths are seemingly almost exactly what we should target in the frontcourt with JR. An elite rim protector and very good overall defender, a top 5 rebounder at C, average as a scorer going by PPG alone but better than average considering his elite efficiency. Not many guys on the market that will bring more to a team than Whiteside potentially can.
