Can't understate how massive it would be if we somehow locked in Derozan early in free agency. We instantly look like a more attractive option to other free agents (DURANT). The guy has grown by leaps and bounds this year, all while showing he can still coexist with another ball dominant star (Lowry).
Dwight has been officially put on the block by the Rockets. EL OH EL. I hope you are having fun Dwight because I am having all the fun in the world watching your team crash and burn.
I wonder what they could get back? The C Bags should be on the phone. Orlando and Atlanta should be on the phone probably. Those are the biggest movers this summer and they should all be very interested. Heck Toronto might be a good landing spot if they want to make a playoff push. Obviously we know he'll wilt in the playoffs, but I'm trying to come up with viable landing spots here.
i'll play: howard for david lee and kelly olynyk? don't see anything sensible in orlando or atlanta. i'd rather keep vucevic or try my luck at retaining horford than trade them for howard. his FA status should kill his trade value. i'm skeptical that houston would go this route, actually. if they did, how about: howard/brewer for ryan anderson/eric gordon/alexis ajinca? why does houston do it? get ryan anderson to try him out in their offense. gordon expires, ajinca is a serviceable backup c at half the cost of brewer. more summer flexibility for a slight step back right now. maybe anderson turns them into an offensive juggernaut? why NO? probably won't keep anderson anyway, and if howard/davis pairing works, they could suddenly be pretty good. if they're willing to pay, they can probably keep dwight given the rather tepid interest in him at his full max (near 30 mil, right?). they might be tempted to pay it just to bring some buzz to the team.
If I'm Orlando or Atlanta I'm taking all calls, that was really my point. They've got stuff to do and they need to be listening to anybody. We do too for that matter, except for Dwight Howard. I don't love the NO one because it's kind of a parallel move. Anderson leaves in the summer, Gordon does too, and you're left with Ajinca? That could end badly. I like the Boston one the most probably.
I like the Boston one as well, if not for the mere fact that most of my NBA hate and resentment can be directed at one team. Just makes things less complicated.
I used that exact same picture last time realdeal said he had gigantism. That's always the first thing that comes to mind when someone used that word, which isn't often. "It's like there's a party in my mouth, and everyone's invited".
My dream realistic scenerio for the summer is a Luke Walton, Harrison Barnes and Hassan Whiteside signings. I see in Barnes the missing piece to the fun starter lineup ready to explode next season. And while he can win multiple championships in GS he needs to sign elsewear to reach his full potential. Whiteside can be our next great center for years to come. Under a Walton system it would be interesting.
So, Westbrook has said he doesn't want to play for the Lakers. http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2016/2/13/10986954/la-lakers-russell-westbrook-free-agency It's time to move on. There are reasons why I don't like Westbrook, and none of them have to do with his talent. I think KD is far, far more likely to land with LA than Westbrook is.
To be fair, he had to say that, he's in OKC for the rest of this season and next. Had he said yes the fans would turn on him. I don't really believe him, in 2 years Kobe is gone, we may still not have a star signed, and he could come to LA and it immediately be his team. In 2 years we could also have a very appealing team depending on if we keep our pick this season, and who we sign in free agency. Also, if the Thunder fail to win a title this season and KD leaves, his mind can change real quick. And even if KD stays and they keep not winning one, he night be ready to move on. Until I see him sign an extension next season with OKC during the season, I don't think we are out of the running for him. And if KD did come here, if think that would up the chances of Westbrook joining him. I honestly don't think we land either, but I think Westbrook is more likely.
^ yeah, absolutely nothing to see here. he could have actually been less equivocal about it, imo. I disagree with Rodgers in that I think he's more likely to be a laker than KD. which means I give it about a 10% chance. the press is funny. you ask a guy a question you know he can't answer, then run with it as a story. lame. in fairness, silver screen and roll echoes my sentiments after reporting the quote, but the quote itself, out of context, is the beginning of a disingenuous assertion.
Seriously? What do you expect him to say? He's committed to OKC for the next year plus of course he's not gonna say "I wanna be a Laker." Even if that's true things can change quickly in the next year and a half.
What is that you don't like about Westbrook's game? I love the fire and relentlessness. He reminds me a bit of Kobe, it's hard to find players like that these days.
I like almost everything about his game. I can't stand his fashion, by what bothers me most is his a****** answers in interviews. I might've read too much into the interview, but there are things he could've said that he didn't, both ways. Some of you aren't reading enough out of it.
