Teague is a decent player, but he's far from a great player. He's basically a fringe All Star. He hasn't been one this season and he's only made it one time in his career which was last season. I don't wanna trade Nance Jr. because he's a guy who I think can be a starter for us down the road, but I'm definitely not trading Clarkson for him. As well as he's played and much as he's improved. Too much to give up.

Teague's numbers are all down this year because the Hawks are in love with Dennis Schroder. They love that kid.

But Teague is only 27 years old, a former All-Star, is averaging solid numbers right now, is terrifically cost-controlled, and plays with tremendous poise. If he's available and the Lakers didn't at least make the call, I'd be extraordinarily disappointed.

2015: you refer to teague as a fringe allstar. isn't that at the absolute ceiling of expectations for clarkson? and clarkson could end up making more money than him quite soon, too.

in truth, i don't think atlanta does a teague/clarkson swap, so it's probably moot.

the hesitation from my end is that i want russell to play pg, so if i'm moving another young piece, it's to fill a hole (c, sf/sg) with a long term option.

BTW, Kent Bazemore didn't get a "pay day" in Atlanta. He was had for 2 yrs at 4M. I was IRATE when we let him go at that amount. He is an FA this summer but once KD, Barnes, Derozan and Batum are all had for the max, he will come in and get a fat deal from somebody. I would love to have him back but it all depends on the price tag...I wouldn't pay any more than 12M for him in this new CBA...but there's a good chance he gets a Chandler Parsons type of deal from someone.

Going back to Teague...I just don't want to obtain another guard when we already have one. If we're going to trade Clarkson, I would rather it be for Tobias Harris, or another 2-way wing....or for a center....and this one just popped in my head: What if we did Hibbert, Clarkson and Nance for Marc Gasol? Doesn't kill our tanking, and we have a 2-way center for the future....with potential to get the #1 pick....and still have a max slot available for this summer....and we would keep D-Loading and Randle in that scenario....

    Gasol
    Randle
    Max FA
    Lou
    Russell

#1 pick (either we keep it or we trade it for another max player to pair with Gasol and the other max player)

Marc Gasol doesn't want to be here. He made that clear last summer. He didn't even want to meet with us because of the way we treated his brother. Sounds silly, but its true.

I don't want anyone here who doesn't want to be here. Their effort/heart won't be in the right place.

gasol has been declining the past couple of years, imo. now a broken foot...red flag on a guy that big and heavy.

but the general idea of trading for an injured player who could be useful next year seems to resonate with what the FO is doing right now.

Yeah I'd try to move on a guy like Alec Burks maybe from Utah if we could.

Ah, realdeal i totally forgot about that. Yeah, I don't want to go for a player that didn't even give us a meeting. And yeah as abeer said, he's declining and now broken foot....no thanks.

I think the guy I really want is Tobias Harris. I think he's perfect for us going forward. If it means giving up Clarkson, I would be for it. Hibbert and Clarkson for Tobias Harris works in trade machine too.

Also, wouldn't mind doing Hibbert, Clarkson and Nance for Horford and Teague. It works under trade machine too...not sure if ATL would do it, but hey, they do get Clarkson and Nance out of it....but surely they'll want picks too...which is something we cant offer them currently.

Houston is imploding. They need help. Lou Will, Brandon Bass, maybe even Nick Young?

The current status has forced Rockets GM Daryl Morey, whether he wants to or not, to make a deal by the Feb. 18 trade deadline. A deal has to be made to shake up this team because this current group doesn't seem to enjoy playing with one another.

Not on the same page," Bickerstaff said. "It's however you want to say it. At the end of the day we all want to win. We all say we want to win. We all say we'll do whatever it takes to win. You got to walk that walk."

The Rockets are failing at that so badly that Morey must do something.

"We're generally an active team," Morey said to ESPN regarding trades. "I mean we won't force anything. They're not many windows where you get a chance to upgrade your team. We'll have to look at it very closely."

Wait, who are we trying to get from the Rockets here, and for that package? I'm lost.

I'm just throwing out speculation and suggestions. Houston needs a shooter or 2 and maybe they look to acquire somebody like a Lou Will or Nick Young. Bass would probably like to play for a team that's at least on the brink of playoff contention as opposed too the lottery; he's a stable presence, productive on the court, and a good chemistry guy. As for we we'll get back? I'm not sure. I like Capela. I like Montejuenas (spelling), etc...just depends...

Alright, I'm just making sure we aren't talking trade proposals for Dwight Howard here, as I saw no names on Houston's end mentioned. Because f*** Dwight Howard.

they're trying to get better, i think. :)

honestly, though, i'm actually fairly shocked that marikieff morris hasn't already been traded to houston. i'm guessing morey's going to take big swings at all the name players (the hawks guys, etc.), then settle for a brewer/morris swap. he'd probably have to give up a pick there, or maybe terrence jones.

the only guys i'd have some interest in there would be motiejunas (though his back issues are scary), and capela (who could be a good backup big and is cost-controlled another year). i suppose ariza, too, but i don't see a workable deal there. again, they're trying to improve.

the rest of that team outside of howard and harden is just really under-talented.
