We don't deserve that kid. But if we don't get him, I'm really pulling for the Pelicans to get him. I hate seeing a generational talent like Davis get wasted like this. But man can he run a break. Honestly, if we got Simmons and he and Randle could somehow learn to shoot from further than 6 feet, pair them with Russell and Clarkson and you have 4 guys who can grab a board and take it the length of the floor. We could probably afford to play Black in a small ball lineup with Randle and Simmons as our forwards. I don't know if that team would ever be great, but they'd be a blast to watch (in theory).
it feels huge, that's for sure. little stat geek question: anyone know the discrepancy between the probability and the actual outcomes since the lotto's inception? in other words, we can know that the worst team has a 25% chance at the top pick, but has the worst team actually gotten the pick 25% of the time. this, of course, doesn't help predict anything, just some trivia that interests me.
I'll list out the bottom five every season and in parentheses where they ended up: 2015: Minny (1), Knicks (4), Sixers (3), Lakers (2), Magic (5) 2014: Bucks (2), Sixers (3), Magic (4), Jazz (5), C Bags (6) 2013: Magic (2), Charlotte (4), Cavs (1), Suns (5), Pelicans (6) 2012: Charlotte (2), Wizards (3), Cavs (4), Hornets (1), Kings (5) 2011: Minny (2), Cavs (4), Raptors (5), Wizards (6), Kings (7) 2010: Nets (3), Wolves (4), Kings (5), Warriors (6), Wizards (1) 2009: Kings (4), Wizards (5), Clippers (1), Thunder (3), Minny (6) 2008: Heat (2), Seattle (4), Minny (3), Grizzlies (5), Knicks (6) 2007: Grizzlies (4), Boston (5), Bucks (6), Hawks (3), Seattle (2) 2006: Blazers (4), Knicks (2), Charlotte (3), Hawks (5), Toronto (1) 2005: Hawks (2), Hornets (4), Charlotte (5), Blazers (3), Jazz (6) 2004: Magic (1), Bulls (3), Wizards (5), Clippers (2), Hawks (6) 2003: Cavs (1), Nuggets (3), Raptors (4), Heat (5), Clippers (6) 2002: Warriors (3), Bulls (2), Grizzlies (4), Nuggets (5), Rockets (1) 2001: Bulls (4), Warriors (5), Wizards (1), Grizzlies (6), Hawks (3) 2000: Clippers (3), Bulls (4), Magic (5), Grizzlies (2), Hawks (6)
The 2nd worst team hasn't gotten the #1 pick in the last 16 years once. The worst team has gotten the #1 pick only 3 times, the same number of times as the 5th worst team. The worst team has dropped out of the top 3 a total of four times in 16 years (25% of the time).
You forgot to mention that the 2nd worse team has dropped out of the top 3 10/15 times. YIKES!!! Bring on the tank (as long as our youngsters continue to play well) and pray Philly continues to improve.
10/16! I honestly am not worried about wins/losses. On a macro level just look at our upcoming opponents. February: @ Pelicans @ Spurs @ Pacers @ Cavs Spurs @ Bulls @ Bucks @ Grizzlies Grizzlies - We might not win another game this month. Best bet is probably tonight against the Pelicans. March: Nets @Nuggets *b2b* Hawks Warriors Magic Cavs Kings Suns Grizzlies @Suns Nuggets Wizards @Jazz Heat -We could get 4 wins there or so against Nets, Suns, and one other maybe. April: C Bags @Clippers Clippers @Pelicans @Rockets @Thunder Jazz - We better get the C Bags, but other than that... I don't see any wins there. At best we're winning 10 more games and finishing 20-52 on the year and that's assuming everyone stays healthy and we continue to be competitive. We're likely to lose more than that. We're basically guaranteed to be in the bottom four at this point, but I think it's safe to assume bottom three. I could see the Sixers winning more than us and the Suns winning less.
Yeah, the only spoilers I can see for us ending up bottom 2 would be the Suns and Brooklyn. Bottom 4 is basically a given. Most likely it'll be bottom 2 or 3.
thanks for posting real. obviously, the small sample trends are less useful in actually predicting anything. but man, if the lakers aren't going to go balls out for the absolute worst record, they may want to go ahead and make some "improve now" trades, because that pick is gonzo unless they're even worse from here on out.
I really hope we lose the nets game. Can't be worsening our chances and increasing bostons chances by winning.
I want to team up Simmons with Russell again. It's really just an altruistic wish on my part. Who cares about wins and losses and that crap? Shouldn't this league be about friendship and love? I think Silver needs to give us the #1 pick so Simmons and Russell can be together again. Ya know, share a milkshake at In-n-Out. Can Simmons even play this basketball game? Does it matter? Let's bring friends together!
