I don't know. Just about everyone I know is sick with something. Gonna go ahead and blame it on el Nino. Because why not.
Well, this has been bumped, so you know what that means... So, after nearly a month of DNPs due to "viral infection," Upshaw returned. He played only 5 minutes, had 2 points, 2 boards, and he blocked a shot. He's at 5.2 scoring, 1.6 passing, and 3.6 hustle, for a 76.4 positional efficiency. Here's hoping he gets back to his regular playing time.
I think Malcolm Thomas requested a buy-out so he could go overseas and we did it for him. I saw the tweet some time today.
This is a bit strange. He's going to the Philippines. Salaries in the PBA start at 50,000 PP per month, which is just over $1000, apparently. The highest paid players in the Philippines make under 10K a month under their cap. I wonder a) what he's getting per month and b) if it's a monetary thing that interested him or something else.
Upshaw saw limited but increased minutes last night in a W. 8 minutes, 5 points, 1 board. No fouls or TO. It actually bumped him a bit because his scoring is moving into a respectable range: 5.3 Scoring 1.6 Passing 3.6 Hustle 77 Efficiency
That is strange. I wonder what reason he had for going there. I know the players in the D-League don't make much, but it has to be more than players in the Philippines.
I don't know where you get your salary info trodgers but the minimum a PBA "import" like Thomas gets is 20 thousand dollars a month. This was the rate 3years ago. I dunno if it increased at present. Black put up 15/14 against OKC's d-league team. He's too good to be lending his talents to that squad.
Granted I haven't watched a single D-League Game and I don't know if Upshaw is getting enough minutes but I thought he would be performing better. For those who have kept up with the Defenders is this fair to say?
He missed a lot of time with a "viral infection" and just returned two games ago. He started slowly on the season, struggled with foul problems, and then was really getting it going before missing about a month with the illness. It's disappointing. He still has work to do - needs to rebound better, for sure. But maybe it's a good thing for him.
Upshaw had a nice showing. In 17 minutes, he went 5-9, hit all three FTs, and finished with 13 points and 7 boards. He keeps bumping up his Scoring Efficiency.
