    but how many statues can they fit around staples? kobe will obviously be getting one too. maybe they should get rid of the de la hoya one that should've never gone up in the first place

    Well deserved. Shaq was the most dominant player I've ever seen on a consistent basis. His contributions to the franchise are remarkable.

    But I assume the Clippers will be throwing a bag over it with Dandre Jordan's face or something equally lame

    Well deserved. Staples Center is very much "The House That Shaq Built." He was the guy who pushed for it and he was the guy who was the big draw for it. Otherwise I don't think it would have happened. So it's fitting to have a statue for him and of course Kobe after he retires as well.

    All that said, I vastly preferred the Fabulous Forum for games. I loved that place. The Staples is a bit stuffy to me, it's more about being seen with all the bright lights in there, and just doesn't have the vibe of the Forum. The Forum used to rock 'n' roll. It was crazy in there and even though there were high priced seats, it was kind of just as much about the lower price seats and the fan noise and enthusiasm. Staples is so quiet by comparison. Sorry young generation fans, that's just how I feel. The Forum had a warm feeling to me while Staples has always been cold and more about money, less about the fans.

    I'd like for the Laker ones to be players first. We've got a few more statues that need to go up. Worthy, Wilkes, and Kobe all come to mind.
