That's debatable. Both are very good players. All Stars, but neither will ever likely be the #1 option on a championship team.

He can't shoot, but he's otherwise a good player. I don't think it's at all obvious that he's their best.

I'd still take a shot on Whiteside. We'd definitely need a veteran guy on the team who is willing to be in this kid's ear all the time. I'm not even sure who fits that bill. Honestly Hibbert might if he's willing to come off the bench.

Saw an ESPN insider article asking if the Lakers would trade Julius for DeMar. No we would not. Why would we do that? The guy is gonna be a free agent. You don't give up a great asset like that. Does ESPN even think before they post some of their articles?

Either Hibbert or Noah on the cheap would be an awesome add, and probably a better expenditure of MLE-type money (assuming they'd come) than the money on Vasquez, as much as I like him.

I mean the way Noah is going is he going to demand much money?

Still I agree basically. We've got a lot of guard depth with Lou, Clarkson, and Russell getting big minutes, so adding another big to help bring Whiteside along is a big priority.

    Russell/Brooks
    Clarkson/Williams
    DeRozan/Young/Brown
    Randle/Nance/Black
    Whiteside/Noah

    That's a good team.

Aaron Brooks I assume. With a good coach that's a playoff team assuming the eight spot in the West doesn't go back to being a 50 win team.

Pretty solid with a competent coach but I'd like a more play maker PG instead of Brooks who is more scoring but we already have Lou.

Udrih? There really aren't a lot of attainable PGs who are more playmakers than scorers.

Udrih and Hinrich come to mind, Vasquez too.

I've thought about Udrih and Vasquez. I'd LOVE Vasquez, but he's making 6M this year, and I can't see that number dropping. I'm not sure we could afford him and still add that quality big mentor.

I don't know if Hinrich is being asked to do different things, but the past three seasons, his assists per 36 have gone 4.9, 3.3, and 3.6. (Similar dip per 100 possessions, so it's not just about pace.) He's able to knock down an outside shot, and I wouldn't turn him away, but he'd be a lot like old Steve Blake.

Urdih would seem to be a good fit.

The way Noah is going, is he going to demand much playing time? That's my main concern, I want players that are healthy and stay healthy, that's one reason Bass was a solid pickup, he's got a good history of health despite some freak injuries this season.

I like that team, though I'm quite wary of whiteside. I might rather spend that money on two guys who I know will bring it each night at center. it's very troubling to me that whiteside's team plays better defense with him off the floor, despite his gaudy block and board numbers.

I'd like to know more about those numbers. I take it that Anderson is the primary backup C. Playing against second stringers might make the off court numbers look better for other players.

Yeah I don't think Vasquez would be attainable, might just be right out of our budget but yeah he would be perfect.

I haven't really watched much of Hinrich this season but I like the idea of him. A veteran who comes to play.

First the nagging little injuries, now this. He's not young, and he gets hurt a lot, not sure I want him. If Hibbert would re-sign for a lot less as a backup I might prefer him, because as mediocre as he is he doesn't really get hurt.

After games like tonight, I have a hard time witnessing any FA come here willingly. Just awful...

We've all been saying that after every seemingly blowout loss, but the reality is things can change if we hire the right head coach we could still be an attractive destination for free agents. Big if though with this front office.

Was thinking about other possibilities at a few spots.

Anyone interested in Scola and Mahinmi?
