2016 Rumor Mill: Trades and Players to Watch

I didn't watch him play, but I've had the absolute pleasure of watching Huertas this season in limited action. Huertas contract guarantees on January 10, 2015. Work Wroten out, if we like him, sign him for the remainder of the season, and let go of Huertas.

 

Huertas would be a perfectly fine backup point guard even with our personnel, but in a different system. NOBODY has looked great under Byron Scott in a long a** time.

Wroten is a chucker but I don't know much about him beyond that.

 

I doubt it. Huertas can't defend at all. He can't shoot either. You can't get significant minutes in this league even as a backup if you can't do either. Look at Kendall Marshall.

 

Yes because we had nothing at the point guard position. He's playing for Philadelphia and they're 1-30. I don't see him ever getting major minutes for any good team.

Noah? Heck yes. He is a dirty work type of player that would be a great piece for the Lakers. If you could somehow hold on to Hibbert they would be a decent step in building a supporting cast. It would be even better if the Lakers coups clear out some of there chucker's and create some space in their rotation.

I think a lot of B players will be paid like A players coming up. Hopefully people are smart and don't get carried away on length in years.

Doesn't seem max worthy, but if I'm his agent, I'm floating that out there without reservation.

i kinda like derozan but how does he fit? is he really a sf? can we afford not to have a very good 3-point shooter at sf? or does anyone want to play him at sg instead of clarkson?! would you still regard clarkson as a centerpiece or does he become available to others?
i understand there are not too many names, but the max is still a lot and can always be detrimental to a building team, if the player in question does not fit that building.
how do you see that playing out?

 

I also had the same concerns. But after thinking about it, I think it could work with DeRozan, Clarkson, and Russell from the standpoint that Clarkson and Russell are both respectable from beyond the arc. The idea would be to put DeRozan in slashing or pick-n-roll situations where he could kick it out to one of the two if he doesn't have an open lane to finish himself.

As far as playing the SF position, he was primarily slotted in that spot last year before they signed Demarre Carroll this past offseason. Combine this with the fact that he is a true 6'7" and a more than willing defender, I definitely think it could work.

 

Question fellas, excuse me for not being such an expert when it comes to the cap space this year, do we have enough for 2 max contracts this off-season with everyone coming off the books?
