@therealdeal Definitely agree that Mitch's message was questionable. He should've just said this season is about paying homage to Kobe with an emphasis on developing the young guys. But he didn't.

If you think about it, what Mitch said is kind of a slight to Byron. He basically said "screw whatever is happening with learning the coaches system, developing our players, this season is about Kobe".

Mitch sort of demonstrated his loss of faith in Byron, his system and his ability to mentor, so he said f*** it - this season is all about Kobe. I can't think Byron reads Mitch's statement about the team's objective for the year and feels supported in what he's doing.

Thanks theRealDeal. You echoed my sentiments. I just read that and was stunned Mitch said that. We knew it was all about that this season it's become painfully obvious, but for him to admit that publicly. This is why everyone laughs at us now. This is why nobody wants to play for the Lakers anymore. I love Kobe as much as the next guy, but it's absolutely dispicable what they're doing. Kobe is done in three months. D'Angelo, Julius, and Jordan are this team's future and for them to just in essence throw away a year of their development is a flat out joke. How do you think those kids feel hearing that? Basically saying they don't matter. They're not that important. Kobe deserves to be celebrated no doubt, but at the expense of the kids? Hell no. To hell with this retirement tour. If Kobe is cool with this I'm disappointed in him too.

Everytime Byron coaches (* tries to coach) an angel loses its wings and a rookie loses their confidence.:SadPau2:

My thing is: if I were Russell, Randle, Clarkson, or Nance Jr. I'd be pissed hearing that. I can respect Kobe as much as the next guy, but the development of the young players is paramount to anything else this season. That 25 million dollars is supposed to buy loyalty from Kobe meaning he bends to the will of the FO, not the other way around. If I'm the young guys I hear that and I start wondering about my future with this franchise.

Especially if I'm Julius Randle. Are you kidding me? Randle already had a year on the sideline, so this is essentially a second year there? How many years before he actually gets to start growing as a player? How many years before he gets a real coach and a real system in place? Is he supposed to be 25 before anything good happens in his career? F*** this mess.

Mitch: "Hey, big name FA's! We really, REALLY love our franchise vets. We love them so much we give them ludicrous contracts and free reign to chuck at will, completely at the expense of developing our young players. We hired a coach that would let him do whatever the f*** he wants. We are desperate to show you FA's that we will treat you really REALLY good! Please sign with us, pretty please!"

You guys are angry with Kobe? He must be furious and this is a shameless horrible spin by the FO.
Do you guys really think Kobe wants his whims and so on? Do you not see him on the sidelines actually coaching? Do you not see how the young guys respond to him?

Dammit. I thought this season couldn't possibly get any worse.

I'm not mad at Kobe. I'm disappointed a bit, but not mad. He's taking what's being given to him by this spineless front office.

I don't think he does. Also... so far I've seen Sacre and Huertas getting in the way of our rookies/youngins. Not Kobe.

    ***If you keep Byron***

I truly feel fans would still tune in if we played a brand of basketball a little easier on the eyes. What we have is just horrible to watch.

I'm with you. Watching our offense in the 2nd half last night was like watching 2 fugly drunk girls bricking beer pong shots at a party for an hour.

I'm mad with Kobe in how selfish he's played this season. He has played a huge role in the young kids not developing as well. He's toned it down a bit, but I don't think he's blameless in this either.

Our rookies don't even play the same position as our "beloved" veteran. Their minutes and development shouldn't even be related. F*** this f***ing bull s***.

WMC: Missed all but last 5 minutes of the game. Then got heart broke watching the youngsters end the game making youngster mistakes. Although, that last turnover should of been a foul on Rondo. Anyway, came back from 27 down. Not too shabby

WMC: Hibbert. What the hell, is he sick? He played like an absolute wuss, like he was scared. I always wondered how he could be a guy to be putting up goose-eggs in scoring and rebounding in playoff games and now I have seen it. He's never pissed me off before, but tonight I got there. For once I will say this and not be joking or mocking B0ron, but he needs to man up. Sitting over there on the bench looking like he's scared and hiding. Hell, he looked relieved when he got a couple fouls guarding Cousins in the first and had to go out, that was pathetic. If he's kept, he needs to take a big pay cut and come off the bench.
