I don't know if there is a thread for this already, mods feel free to move. I'd love to get Noah on this squad and for future seasons as the backup C. Hibbert and Noah going forward would be pretty sweet. Both offer different defensive qualities with Roy being a rim protector and Noah the more agile one to cover teams that pick and roll. Noah's passing is also an underrated quality that would be a huge boost for our offense. Downside is his contract is for 13 million. We'd have to get creative in a 3 team or hope the Bulls would want Lou or Young + Bass + Shaqre. Remains to be seen how good of a wing they can get considering Noah is injured right now and hes an UFA next season. Something to watch for sure. Noah could be the gateway for Thibs after Boron is gone.
Yeah honestly Noah's contract/production shouldn't net them anything major. I think if the Lakers offered Young/Bass/Kelly or Sacre or something they might be able to get Noah. Especially if they offered it now. I'd make the call.
Man I'd trade Lou or Young, Bass, and Sacre or Kelly for Noah in a heartbeat. If he's available and we don't have to give up key pieces, I'm all over that, finally we'd have 2 centers to split minutes.
If we trade for Noah I'd be ecstatic, but I don't think he should be a backup here. He's a much better screen and roll defender, more mobile overall than Hibbert, and can still rebound very well. With his passing skills he's a great fit for this Princeton system.
I think you're thinking of Noah from like 4 years ago. Noah today is not as mobile anymore after his injuries. He's a perfect backup big man now.
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14422794/joakim-noah-chicago-bulls-sprained-shoulder Out for two weeks with a strained shoulder. Sure has had a lot of injuries the last couple of years. Will that get any better as he gets older?
No I'm really not. I understand he's not what he once was due to injuries and wear and tear, but compared to Hibbert he's still more mobile. In less minutes is still averaging more rebounds. Neither are very good offensively, but Noah can still pass the ball from the high post.
I don't want to tie up 13 mil of cap space on a guy with his injury history and lack of offense, especially when we could have enough room to sign three max players and be great again.
He probably won't get better. If he comes with a decent price tag, I'd take a flyer. However, you're either paying for deteriorating, older, injury porne player or you're overpaying for someone like like Mosgov, maxing out Whiteside, etc...
Except Roy is twice the defensive player that Noah is at this stage in their careers. Noah is a good player still, but not great anymore and he has a hard time staying on the floor. He's best suited for a role off the bench in more limited minutes where it's harder for him to hurt himself.
I'd give him a look and bring him in over Huertas. 22 years old coming off a torn ACL, put up 17/5/3 last season for Philly. Can't shoot though.
Hoiberg destroyed Noah's trade value this season having him come off the pine. While they're at it... they should also finally move from D. Rose.
I rather we go after mirotic than Noah. I think tarik black is just as good and even more mobile than Noah is now for a fraction of the price we just have the world's dumbest coach

I disagree. I haven't been that impressed with Roy. Yes I understand the scheme doesn't help him, but he's so slow and can't recover. Noah can at least do a better job defending those screen and rolls and a better job when he gets into a switch.
Noah alone would be a great addition considering his current trade value, but if that makes us more likely to bring in Thibs it becomes a no brainer. Assuming the rumor is correct and they want a wing, Swaggy or Lou? Take your pick if it gets us Noah. We have a lot of young talent so I'd try to get as much from the Bulls as we can. I see potential for a move or series of moves that could push this team in the right direction and build an identity that could be extremely appealing to Stars who will decide where to sign their next contract during the next couple seasons. It seems like Chi wants to continue to have Rose and Butler co-exist and replace some of the old guard with guys that will help Butler transition into being their leader. With the centerpiece of the rumored deal Chi might want being a wing, I'm thinking about the possibility of a Noah/Hibbert/Randle rotation up front with Thibs at the helm. If Noah could bring even 75% of the heart he's brought at times in Chi to this team, I see nothing but good things in our future.
