What a way to go out in your retirement year, still able to drop 30 on kids barely born when you started your career. One of a kind.
"I wonder if we'll see a 40 point game from him at some point this season?" Would not surprise me all that much, if he gets hot. Another record for the old man books. These 30+ games are new territory for his age too I believe someone said. Unless Boron breaks him first. :Headpoint:
Can anyone tell me what the hell Baxter Holmes meant by this quote in his Kobe article last night: "According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Tuesday marked the first time Bryant was the outright high scorer in the NBA since Nov. 16, 2004, when he scored 44 points against the Warriors." Huh?
Don't know. Considering he had an 81 game in 2006, it could not have meant that this is the first time he scored the most points on that same night.
I KNOW. It was 2014. Lakers played the Warriors on Nov. 16, 2014. http://www.foxsports.com/nba/boxscore?id=28220
Points: 17.5 Rebounds: 4.3 Assists: 3.5 FG: 34.5 % TS: 44.9% 3 point %: 24.6 Free throw line extended down is still very efficient; that's where he needs to eat. His numbers are climbing steadily...
Earlier in the season I posted that I refused to believe Kobe would not figure this thing out. For a while there he had me worried. But wow oh wow has he found the sweet spot. That second half last night was a thing of beauty. His shots were almost all in the flow of the game and he set up his team with some easy shots. He took over the game and shut down Barton as a completely unexpected bonus. He's still going to have a few games here and there when the legs just don't show up, but if he can stay in this sweet spot he will have an amazing final year.
Kobe was electric in that 2nd half. I'm so glad he's 60-70% back to his old self. He's clearly our best player now.
He's proving me wrong right now. I like that. I just hope he can keep it up because a)it'd prove to prospective FA forwards that there's a home here for a scorer and b) I desperately want to see him go out on a high note.
I still find it perplexing as to why he felt the need to chuck 14 threes a game, instead of going to the low block or top of the key... One day we'll know.
Well as the old saying goes "some things you think you know, but you don't know and you never will know." Kobe for only reasons known to him was playing like an idiot and forcing things instead of letting the game come to him.
Watch Boron play Kobe the entire 1st half and then justify it by using his funnystyle math and his definition of "limit".
Brilliant game from Kobe, especially that third quarter where he really brought us back with good D, good shooting and great passing. I only wish he would lay off those threes. They are percentage killers (2 of 9 in keeping with his season average there). Stay with the two pointers and just an occasional open three when feeling it. Love that Kobe can play like this during his final year. I was irate with his play early this season, but he's playing so much smarter and better lately. GREAT to see!!!
