Kobe has been playing smarter the last three games and we're still 0-3. That's okay though. Randle and Russell are still getting valuable playing time and experience which will only make them better.

...and he comes back and plays as a player/coach at a Vet Min salary, sparingly, for the next three years, leading us to another ring or two.

although that official capacity isn't allowed, he's definitely capable of being a coach in the floor.

However, when he says he's out after this year and doesn't want to do it any more, I believe him.

But I would take that in a heartbeat, no questions asked if he would.

That is ok, because it's all we can really ask at this time. Under B0ron we aren't going to be much better, but if Kobe is playing closer to what he is right now (I don't expect him to be this efficient all the time, that's unreasonable) and the youth are getting minutes we should at least be in games vs teams like Minnesota. We shouldn't be getting blown out by them, or losing to the 76ers. Most nights teams are going to be better than us, but a good number of nights we should at least be competing. Under this moron coach and his awful rotations that's the best I can hope for. If the young guys are getting minutes and Kobe isn't playing 35 minutes per game and jacking up shots getting worn out, and I can enjoy his farewell tour, I'm good.

It's a beautiful thing really. Not the losing obviously, but Kobe finally starting to accept the fact that he's not the Black Mamba anymore. The fact that he's passing the torch to these young kids. As difficult as things are right now once we finally get a competent coach in here we will be competitive again. These young guys will be able to used correctly, will continue to grow and develop, and in a few years we should be able to finally get a big time free agent.

I have an idea. Black Mamba retires after this year, but.......

Kobe still plays. He changes his number from 24 to 40 (8 - 24 - 40) adding 16 to it like last time, and reinvents himself as a part time savvy floor vet.

Saves face on changing his mind after getting goodbye gifts, fans love it, team loves it, takes a reasonable salary, doesn't beat up his body too much, extends a few records, and helps us transition to the next great Laker era. Provides impact off the bench, still excels against 2nd teams, has the occasional 20 pt game, and the occasional move that makes us go, "Yeah, I remember that!"

    What do you say Kobe?

I can't wait for this 25-30 minute Tribute when it comes out sometime in 2016. This guy is one of the best bball video creators out there.

They should fix that to read, "the Definition, explanation of greatest competitor of this century/millennium".

It seems like he might have a peaceful ending.

He does have a solid game here and there now. And he does look much better. If he can stay ok, that would be great IMO.

    1. The Lakers need to lose.
    2. Kobe needs to go out without being the laughing stock of the league.

Both goals seem realistic now. The Lakers are abysmal and Kobe looks ok.

That's all I've been hoping for all season, and it's a big part of why I've been harping on his play. All I want from him is to smarter, play fewer minutes and shoot less difficult shots. That way hopefully he has a better chance of not getting injured from fatigue, and he can go out on his own terms, looking ok, and actually play in the final game of the season.

Losing only hurts the Lakers now. Time to win, develop players, and instill the thought that this team is already heading toward being winners. That's how you attract FAs. We've had our draft fortune already. It's FA time.

Have to start winning and looking like we want the FA to come here. They won't go to a team that is stuck in a dead end

Agreed, but it ain't happening now. Not if Mitch is going to stay hands off like he says he is. There is no way now that I see us getting more than 20 wins with Byron coaching. He's flat out garbage. Realistically I'd say we're looking at 15-16 wins which is fully HALF of what I predicted before the season started. It's disgusting. And Mitch's "State of the Lakers Union" address instilled absolutely no faith in me. It just sounded like they are content to tank.

How many good games in a row is that for Kobe, less minutes and shooting less than 20
shots, better shots and assisting? 4? Did the lightbulb go on, was there an epiphany?

Kobe having that click where he decided to develop the younger players and not chuck 20 shots from 3 pt range has helped. Definitely working to develop everyone around him.
