Yeah, in D'Angelo's post game interview he was glowing with praise about how amazed he was with Kobe's basketball knowledge

I wasn't saying he's not, we just haven't seen as much of it because he's been here half as long as the other two. We KNOW that Kobe is Randle's hero and we know Clarkson loves him too, but we only know because they've been here long enough to show us. Russell just got here. :D

The point though is that these young guys are not likely to ever turn on him. For one thing, they're seeing first hand all the work Kobe is putting in TRYING to not suck. For another thing, they're pulling for him to do well. No one enjoys Kobe's good moments more than Randle. They go to the bench and laugh and hug about every nice shot/move/play Kobe makes. For one last thing, imagine YOU were in their positions. It'd be really, really hard for them to turn on Kobe like was suggested a few pages ago. If I were playing with him, I'd be hoping and wishing and praying for nights like last night every single day.

Randle is forever respectful of 24 because the latter encouraged him after last year's injury and likely made sure he does not lose track of his commitment. Even in training camp prior to it, they forged a bond. Randle took the constructive criticism to heart. Same goes for Clarkson. Now it is Russell's turn. Now if we can only get that small forward...

It depends who that star is, but I don't wanna trade Julius or any of the young kids for that matter unless it's for a legit superstar. Not sure who'd really be available other than maybe Cousins.

Agreed. I don't view anyone as untradeable, but I'm not sure who we would be getting.

I'm also concerned about Jim making trades to try and beat Jeannie's deadline at the expense of the long term well being of the team.

The only reason to trade Clarkson and/or Russell would be for an elite player AND a very strong feeling Westbrook is coming in the following summer. I still would prefer to grow our young trio though.

    Westbrook
    Batum
    Barnes
    Randle
    Cousins

I'd rather just wait on that then. No reason to trade D'Angelo if we believe Westbrook is signing here in 2017. It would allow him to play his more natural position and the first true point guard he's played with in the NBA. I'd throw the max at Whiteside. End up with Russell, Westbrook, Batum, Randle, Whiteside. I think that's a more balanced starting five.

I mean, if we have like Durant and Conely ready to sign if we move Russell and Clarkson for a legit star, then of course you do it. But don't trade all our young pups away for a star if we have no one coming via free agency. Cousins has a resurgent Rondo with him and they have 7 wins. It takes a lot of good players to win in the West. I'm more comfortable waiting on Randle, Clarkson, and Russell to come around. Let's be completely honest here. Are there any realistic moves we can make that will give us a shot to beat Golden State in the next 3-4 years? Not really. Let's say we trade Clarkson and Russell for Boogie, sign Durant and Conely...can Conely, Durant, Boogie and Randle beat Golden State? I'm not sure they do.

I'm sure our young guns aren't untradeable but you don't just trade them for anyone. There's only a handful of players I would use them in a trade for and they look pretty content where they are.

Cousins seems to be an easy target but he's a risk. For all the talent he has, he is still a head case. What other big star is available, or doesn't seem to like their situation.

I wouldn't trade for Cousins. I think all of our guys can be just as good without the headaches.

Yep We've seen enough of Cousins to know you don't want to have him as one of your team leaders ...

By the way I'm pretty sure DAR is going to be a very good player whereas Julius may not overcome some issues ( small arms , no right hand , trouble to finish over length ....)

    Two things:

Colin Cowherd's sources probably rate right up there with Broussard's.

But, I'm actually concerned that Jim Buss would consider this out of desperation for a quick fix.

This thought popped into my head as well. We trade Clarkson and Russell for Cousins. Sign like Batum and Conely. We might (however unlikely) make the playoffs in which case Jim will tell Jeanie, "Look, look! I made the playoffs! We're in contention by 2017 just like I said!"

Really hope that doesn't happen. Cousins is playing with Rondo right now who he is playing like he did three of four years ago and they still are a bad team. You know the Kings would want a king's ransom for him. Probably ask for all three of Randle, Clarkson, and Russell and probably the #3 pick if we keep it. My hope is this last summer I believe there were some talks for Cousins, but never went anywhere because they wanted too much.

Colin Cowherd is a joke. I don't take anything he says that seriously.
