It's embarrassing for Kobe to go out this way but its 85% his fault (15% byrons). I don't understand why he would take 17 3s this game. If that's the best shot he can get then he shouldn't be on the court.

I vote this for the statue if I had to decide today. This picture embodies everything about Kobe and what made him great:

which makes me burn inside because we would have had yet another nail to pound in the LBJ - Kobe comparison confine to end it once and for all.

Problem is him hitting a couple of shots is like crack to him, he can't stop. 3 out of the first 4 3 pointers he hit, then goes 1 for the next 10. Bad Kobe finally killed Good Kobe in his head it seems.

That 2009 team was on a mission that year. Absolutely fun to watch every game (save for that loss to the Pacers at the buzzer. That sucked at that time).

For me... this was the highlight of the regular season in 2009

End of a six game road trip in Cleveland who was neck-and-neck with the Lakers as the best team in the league that year. Ended up sweeping that road trip after a loss at home to Charlotte.

This is what I've been saying too, just a little lighter analogy calling them a bag of chips. Kobe can't eat just one . . . has to finish the whole bag.

It's not Kobe's fault. Skip Bayless had a great quote earlier. Said Kobe hasn't failed this season his body failed him. He's had an incredible run, but all the injuries, all the minutes, the toll they've taken physically and mentally. People keep wanting him to change how he plays. He can't do it. It's not in him. Kobe is what Kobe is. He's never gonna change.

Then he should quit now. If you can't play the right way any more why torture everyone and yourself for the rest of this season? It's not cool.

If you feel you have to play, then at least try to do it the right way. What I'm seeing is ludicrous. 30 percent volume shooting every night? Garbage. Neither Byron nor the FO will lift a finger to stop it. The tank is officially condoned from above.

It is Kobe's fault. Kobe is the one who took 17 "F it" threes and played nothing close to NBA team ball. It was playground ball at best, and it was disgusting. Kobe should know better. He says this season is about helping the youth develop. If that's true, stop taking 20+ shots, chucking threes, and let Clarkson shoot more and let Russell do something other than hand you the ball close to the 3 point line. Not Kobe's fault, come on now, let's be real. This is not the Kobe that used to be great not being able to make the shots he's always taken, even great Kobe didn't chuck 17 threes for the hell of it. He could easily play more balanced like he did against Detroit, score some and facilitate, but he won't.

    Dear Kobe,
I still remember when you unwrapped me on Christmas Day and said I was the best gift ever. We grew up together in gyms from Italy to Pennsylvania. You shot me countless times to practice and prefect your step back J. Dunked me thousands of times and dribbled me till I couldn't take it anymore. You shot me for game winners, 81 points and of course the finals championships. I loved to be in your hands. You have announced your retirement this year and I will miss you dearly but something has changed recently. I still see the determination in your eyes but your body can't back it up. You shoot me the majority of your teams shots without a chance of me going through the basket. I get blocked now by people who's name on the back of their jerseys I don't even recognize. It doesn't have to be this way. You can still shoot me when your open. Pass me with that great court vision you've developed. Grow the new guys coming up the ranks. Allow them to shoot the Utah air balls that lead to your development. Play the mentor role. We can go out with our heads held high and the love of the fans. It's time you stepped aside and let the next Laker great be born.
    Yours truly,
    The basketball

That...actually wasn't that bad of an article. Really expected him to just come out swinging on Kobe.

Man this announcement was a genius move. ESPNLA isn't talking about how we lost to the worst team in the NBA, all they are talking about is the tribute they gave Kobe, how bringing out Doctor J was cool and who Boston is going to bring out for Kobe, what Kobe and Obama is talking about.

When they did talk about the game it's all BS. Mychal Thompson: "The kids are doing better, Kobe is being Kobe. Keep doing what they're doing.".

They know this is a turd of a situation, and they are polishing that turd up because they know the average fan will eat it up. The average fan calling in to the radio stations saying, "Byron is a legend. These kids don't want to play hard for a legend?!?! Kobe needs help out there. He is single handedly trying to win these games cause everyone else sucks."
