Drafting has been good. We got the best free agents we could have expected all considered. Everything good the front office has done is over shadowed by one huge glaring mistake that keeps slapping us in the face. The frustrations of this season all come down to one word, Byron. The worst coach in the history of sports. In fact, I can't call him a coach any longer. He is in a coaching position but clearly not a coach. Here the front office gets an F-------------. Till they clear out the coaching position and hire a coach, this will get worse daily. The worse thing that could happen would be to win a game so they stall it out longer. Please management hire a coach.

Nah we had bad coaches before Phil, too. Pfund, Del Harris, Rambis. But yeah, Jim Buss's hiring record has been terrible and there's no way around that fact.

LOL! What happened to creating and fostering a culture of Lakers basketball, teaching thee guys how to become young men, all the defensive chatter that we heard from Scott? Yeah, I never bought it. He has this organization trending backwards and completely detailed any hopes of having a respectable season.

Oh, and we are on pace for 12 wins . Mitch was at the game; he said he was there to offer support during this tough rough patch we are going through; I am paraphrasing. I don't believe him . He's evaluating Byron's a**...

Byron is a dead man walking. Just a matter of time at this point. He is garbage and simply can't lead a team. He's in over his head.

Even 12 wins feels like a struggle right now.

Mitch and the front office are going to have to step in at some point and force Byron to play the young guys. Kobe is literally on his last leg and the other vets just aren't good enough to get us any wins with the way Byron uses them.

    What a mess...

And Nick Young was spot on. Byron coaches like its a video game, always going toward his favorite player Kobe. The blatant bias he shows isn't good for anyone especially Kobe.

Del Harris was NOT a bad coach. He won Coach of the Year and helped develop our young players into a respectable team. He just wasn't the coach to get us over the top.

Yep. If Byron is kept on for the season, it will be a favor to him. Start developing the young guys ASAP. Rest Kobe. Let's just ride it out.

My thoughts exactly lol. No one should endure the pain of rewatching and picking highlights of our games though. I rather see Cachooka stay healthy and sane :).

which is why i'll say what i've said a million times now

jim buss should be taken and locked inside a small, dark room far, far away from the staples center when it comes time to hire a new coach. his track record speaks for itself. the man cannot make a decent hire to save his life. he should not be allowed to have any input on who the new coach is (although we all know that'll never happen)

we all know the next coach he hires will probably be just as bad as the last three numbskulls who ran this team. and for the record, del harris was a good coach.

Del Harris was a good coach when the team wasn't great. He did a great job with lesser talent. But I was calling for his head once we got Shaq and Kobe and he couldn't manage the egos. He'd be great for this team right now. My point being that this run of bad coaching hires is mainly the fault of Jim Buss's poor decision making rather than anything supernatural, and that we did have some underachieving and bad coaches before he arrived.

If the FO is intent on running a system offense, he's not a bad guy to look at. Problem is, he's 69 years old and will be 70 next season. His assistant with the Kings, Pete Carril is 85 years old. If he can bring in younger assistants like Eddie Jordan or Luke Walton to help him out, then maybe it'll work. But it's a lot to ask for from somebody who is officially retired.

Also, the Princeton/Corner series offense works best with bigs who are triple threats. Randle is the closest, but he can't shoot, and his passing is spotty in half-court. Roy can shoot, but he can't drive, and his passing is decent, but not great. Our 3pt shooting from the perimeter players isn't that great either.

I believe the personnel we have would work better in simple P&R sets or Horns plays, but a system offense like Triangle would make more sense than Princeton if we're going to go that route. We have some guys who can post up, and athletic types who can cut and finish like Clarkson & Nance.
