Playing Lou so much when he stunk again.

Not playing with a true PG on the floor.

Continuing to play Bass at center.

Not enough high screen and rolls again.

Not getting the kids involved in those final two possessions. Terrible shots by Kobe and Ron.

I don't know if our luck will hold when the time comes. But I guess we have no choice.

Losses don't bother me that much. If that's not pathetic, I don't know what is.

A decent coach would probably squeeze 3 more wins with the recent schedule.

I find myself thinking the same thing. and this team has been in games. but on both ends, there lots of little mistakes all the time. that can be due to both bad/insufficient coaching and the inexperience of some of the key players. there were two or three offensive possessions last night in which randle was just aimlessly walking into areas on the court that were clearly supposed to be clear of laker players. contrast this with dallas on offense--on one play alone I counted three free rim runs from their players (I think they finally found the third one). that's movement with a purpose and appropriate spacing. and it's how a team with fairly equivalent talent to the lakers is over .500 while the lakers are nearly historically bad.

We have no identity. No offense. And no defense.

Last year we gave him excuses. There aren't really any this year. Even if your talent is lacking, you can still have a recognizable system and be making progress.

    Our systems?

We don't need no stinking systems.... it's all about effort and manning up. :Headpoint:

It's so painful watching our offense, it really is pick up basketball out there. Half the time there's always 2 or 3 player standing around or the ball handler dribbles for 15 seconds or one of the big guys holding the ball for 10 seconds trying to pass it but no one is moving. And then it turns into an ISO fest with a bad shot and since there's no spacing, we give up a lay up at the other end.

Byron is known for a tough training camp but it's tough for all the wrong reasons. Instead of teaching guys who have never played together an offense, he had them run and run and run. A suppose defensive coach yet teams can score on us with an arm tied behind their backs, blindfolded while on pogo sticks.

I refuse to believe that Dallas's roster is better than ours. Dirk is old, Parsons and Matthews are coming back from big injuries, D Will is a shell of his former self, Zaza freaking Pachulia... Yet they are .500 while we are 1-8.

I'm desperately hoping the Lakers get booed at Staples Center tomorrow, maybe that will finally open the front office's eyes and they do something about it. Whether it's fire Byron or coming out and saying something cause they've been awfully quiet.

^^ I was thinking much the same last night. I knew that we were coming in with three very young starters, 2 being NBA rookies in Randle and an even younger Russell, plus Kobe who has so much mileage and coming off 3 season ending injuries in as many seasons. So my expectations were pretty low in terms of wins predicted compared to many on this board (I was saying 32).

But what I didn't expect was how absolutely unorganized we look on both sides of the ball. I don't see or get the offense, and I don't see or get a defensive system. It's like we've gone from Mike Brown's one sided ball, to the opposite in Antoni's one-sided ball and instead of going to a more even keel with good systems on both end, we're left with nothing in it's place: no defense, and no offense.

I didn't expect Byron to be the best coach out there or miraculously turn our team around, but for us and HIM even more so, to look completely clueless is a surprise to me. I think we are stuck with him for this season, but it's too bad he has been such a disappointment. We definitely need a better coach next year. I just hope we turn it around sooner than later before it's too late to attract any decent free agents.

I nearly kicked the TV last night at the point near the end, Dallas goes small, Scott reacts by putting Bass in for Hibbert, Dallas goes right to the rim and seals it, that's just plain dumb, take out your defensive anchor in the paint to "force" them to go to the basket instead of zoning the perimeter and giving up a 20 footer at best. Nance gets 11 friggin minutes, where's Black? Those two have been bright spots.... WTF! Williams for Russell again...on and on I can go...a fitting post for whine, moan, and cry..
