    Bookmarked long time ago.

I can't believe I used it this morning.... 4 games in.

Problem is - Byron won't get fired. The only possible way we get rid of him is if Jim steps down.

    1. Jim steps down and is replaced by Mitch (or whoever makes sense)
    2. Ryan West replaces Mitch
    3. Ryan fires Byron
    4. Ryan appoints Mark Madsen the interim coach with intention of bringing Luke/Ollie/Messina/Blatt (who just might get fired after Cavs lose again)
    5. Jim and Chaz open a bar called "Best Intentions"
    6. Randle dunks on LeBron 8 times in the same game and then refuses him an autograph

Mind you, 6 is the most likely to happen.

The Buss kids are ruining our Lakers with their bad decisions all over place

I hope they'll figure it out or have the decency to sell the team sooner than later ....

There is nothing to expect this season ( in the development department) with Byron coaching .

Yes this is a bad team ... but at least put some schemes in place on both ends off the floor ... teach , correct, REPEAT

I said this in game time 2 games ago jokingly. That it's true is not even funny.

We can't start Lou, Russell, and Clarkson together. We'll be way too small. The only option for benching Kobe would be inserting World Peace, but then there is no floor spacing. There's really not much we can do unless we can trade for 3 man who can defend and space the floor.

That bit about Byron just tells me he's doing next to no coaching. No wonder there are so many defensive mistakes. The coach isn't teaching them whatsoever. It's embarassing quite honestly. You would think at the very least Scott would teach them basics like defending screen and roll, forcing whatever action they run to help and not away from it, and running simple sets offensively as opposed to nothing.

Agreed, I liked the article except for that suggestion. Again, the problem isn't as much the offense as the D. Lou is better as a sixth man and there's no way he can defend small forwards.

I've been pushing the idea of subbing in MWP for Kobe for short stretches and I still think it will help. I don't care as much about floor spacing as MWP won't be in for much time and its more about his impact on defense at the position. Plus he probably shoots threes better than Kobe at this moment anyway. Not that he should doing much of that.

That Reddit post is infuriating. First off, Madsen is an atrocious coach. He is leading the timeouts? I really don't know what's going on. I think Mitch is using Byron to stealth tank. Last season I just thought we had some bad breaks, but I'm convinced now that Scott was brought in so we can keep our picks for a couple years to get the rebuild going. Are we going to have to start the tank thread before Christmas?

I hated the Byron hire. I harped on it MULTIPLE times over at CL. I would have rather stuck with MDA than Scott. Can you imagine what MDA could do with this roster? We couldn't be any worse defensively, and Russell is MADE to play in MDA's system.

Out of your mind if you want to start Lou over Kobe. Not happening and shouldn't happen. At times Clarkson is very undersized, let alone Lou who appears much smaller than him. Kobe and the kids need to be more active defensively. Kobe's rotations are terrible, but the kids aren't that much better (especially Randle and Russell).

Other than that, the rest is pretty revealing. I think the Hibbert/Bass thing is fine. Seems like Bass is frustrated with himself, the coach, the situation and some people don't like other people trying to encourage them in those instances. Just some brotherly love going on there.

We could start Brown. At least he did a better job of hitting threes. His defense probably is better too. I don't know but a change needs to happen sooner than later. Kobe was excused from practice, can we excuse him from some games?

That's not happening with Byron. We just have to live with Kobe's limitations.

Stephen A Smith just said Kobe doesn't have any help right now. Wow just wow. I wonder if he's watched any of the games.

Kobe has plenty of help. If he'd choose to use it. Randle has looked dominate at times and has been a monster inside in three of the four games. Clarkson has been on the attack and has been knocking down shots as well. Yeah I guess you can say Russell has dissapointed, but why is it people on television are so afraid to criticize Scott?

We're all Laker fans here and we all see the flagrant misuse of Russell. Yeah we stink right now, but it's not because of a lack of talent. It's because of the incredible ineptitude within the coaching. Is this a championship caliber team? Of course not.

Even if Phil Jackson is coaching this is probably a 35 or 40 win team at best, but when will someone call this clown coach out for not running an actual offensive system? I hate going to Spurs games and I go to a lot because I live in San Antonio and it KILLS me seeing some of the sets they run, the incredible unselfishness, the overall fluidness and rhythm to their offense. It's just amazing and brutal to watch at the same time.

This is such a heavy pick and roll league and we're still not running enough despite having two very adept guards in these high screen and roll situations. Some of the defensive lapses as Kobe alluded to I get are due to a lack of game experience, but at the same time you're the coach Byron. Instead of sitting down with your arms folded how about teaching these young dudes how to defend the screen and roll, how to properly close out, how to close the paint off, how to rotate, weakside and help defense.

Really it's hard to see more than 21 wins same as last year even though the talent is worlds better. It's sad and pathetic. We have an elite interior defender in Hibbert, we have a young big who can score in the post in Randle, Kobe can still average 15-20 points a game if we would put him in the post and the mid post, we have two guards who could shred teams in pick and roll and on the perimeter in general. On the bench we have two guys who can fill it up and shoot from the outside and we saw how Lou drew fouls. Huertas needs to be running the second unit though. Bass will find his jump shot eventually and I'm glad Black played more, but he shouldn't be playing more than 15 minutes a game.
