Okay so it's been noticed that our perimeter defense is just awful. GS shot shot around 60% from downtown. That can not happen if you're hoping to improve your defense. There were possessions where I notice all 5 players were within a step of the paint leaving a shooter wide open for a successful 3 point attempt. Why are all 5 guys sucked that far into the paint against a team that lives at the 3 point line? You have to pressure the perimeter, force them off the line and live with the results. That's just smart defense against a team like that. There's just way too many open shooters having a field day against us and it's just not GS either. I'm starting to loose faith that Byron can teach these guys how to play defense properly.

I guess we were afraid that Speights and Ezeli were gonna each drop 50 on us. Forget about flash in the pan talents like Curry, Klay, Barnes when those 2 are on the floor.

James Worthy said that the team has spent 75-80% of practices working on defense :Ha:

Well, Weezy called that one completely. He did say they would destroy us if not this game or the next, some time upcoming, and they sure did. Wow, that was one royal butt whooping. Ouch. And Clarkson got hurt so there's that too . . . not much good I can take away from this one. A pretty miserable night and painful to watch.

Lol, I didn't want to be right about that, the Warriors are just that good. That and they own us, more than any other team. I feel like we wronged them at some point that they are aware of and we have forgotten, because it seems personal.

Funny what players take out of practice then because it was clear that guys like Huertas and Kelly (and Huertas & others ftm) remembered designed offensive plays yet were total gaping holes on D. Not talking "doesn't have the athleticism to defend" either, I'm talking hasn't a clue about any defensive schemes whatsoever. As excited as they are out there with Marcelo they need to play team D, that was a joke.

    Injuries!
I honestly don't think Byron knows what he's doing.

Our best offensive players are some of our worst defensively....

The second worst team faces the world champion...what did you expect actually?

If both teams play up to their potential, GS is going to win by 20+ every single night. I'm not mad at this loss.

Its all about the development over the season. Right now its not "championship or bust"...its "I wanna see steady improvements". If thats the case I don't care about winning or losing any game. If I don't see any improvement, then we have a problem son.

I think expectations are way too high right now. If we get to 40 wins I will be pretty surprised. We're too young to make the playoffs in the west.

At the very least we have to be somewhat in contention for a playoff spot. No markee free agent is gonna want to join a lottery team with a bunch of youngsters. But if those said youngsters are competitive enough to compete for a spot and just need a superstar to put them over the top, that could be more appealing. So while I agree playoffs may be out of reach, we have to shoot for at least a .500 mark to make this team appealing.

I don't mind losing that game. I mind having an incompetent coach.

Im going to go out on a limb but I'd say if we had a top tier coach with the current roster, we'd make the playoffs in the west.

Out of curiousity, has there ever been a team with 3 rookies (as starters, or at least part of the main rotation) that has made the playoffs? I mean technically Julius is a second year player, but he's a rookie in reality.

Not that I know of; I keep flip-flopping on win totals, but I never said we'll contend or even make the PO's. I think we're 1 to 2 impact guys away from even making something like that happening. The focus should be on developing our core this year, IMO. Also, I think we should balance that out with trying to win as game games as possible. Tough to do, I know, but we'll have to do our best.
