This eliminates the need for Lou to play much at the 1. Which is good. He needs to score off the bench. And someone else needs to set him and Swag up.

We're going to have a really dynamic offense man. Huertas, Russell, Clarkson, Kobe, and Williams are all capable of setting people up for buckets at the NBA level (Russell will get there I think pretty quickly). Randle and Brown I think are also underrated (even by themselves at times) at getting people good looks.

Along with that I think we have higher IQ players that understand the need to play tough defense. With the injuries last year and a few reluctant defenders no one could have turned that group into a good defensive team. I believe that Byron can turn this group into a better than average defensive team. Maybe even a good defensive team by mid season. A dynamic offense and a average to good defense we can win some games. With some health and luck playoffs are not out of the question.

Russell when the season is all said in done I would hope is better than this guy.

Well we have the young guns running the break, Russell, Clarkson, Randle and such.. if they don't have an opening Kobe comes down and takes the post ala Kareem and we run our half court.... kind of a mini version of showtime. We need Byron to make us good defensively but he doesn't have to be an offensive genius.

Thanks for posting this, I'm excited to see what Huertas can do with the Lakers. I really don't think they would bring him in just to cut him in training camp, and I'm hoping he will be a great mentor for Russell. If nothing else his skill set should force Byron to run more pick and roll and allow more...gasp...three point shooting.

Worth noting that the Lakers work with one of the best scouts in Spain; as your article points out, I'm sure they are quite familiar with Huertas game coming over from Europe.

This is a very smart signing. Nice to be building a team and not just buying time. Could get very interesting.

Can we get some love for this guy?

His first game back and he looked like a curly haired Nash out there controlling the court and making great passes and decisions. If this was indicative of how he always plays, D'Angelo might need to take a seat for a bit while this guy starts.

Yeah, he's making the team, and I don't think it was ever in question. He's the only true PG we have, and you must have one, absolute must. I don't care if he's the backup PG or starter, but he needs to be playing. He's an NBA rookie, but he's a pro ball vet, and it shows.
