Figured you guys would get a kick out of this:http://www.silverscreenandroll.com/...kelly-mom-thinks-he-should-play-power-forward Basically Ryan Kelly's mom favorites a tweet of mine, pretty funny.
I remember reading the article where Mike Trudell was interviewing the Lakers trainer, Tim, and he asked him who has been working out the most on his game and in the gym. Tim said that it was Ryan Kelly who never really took a break when the season ended and went right back to work. Kelly is a smart player who I think can still help us but it will always have to be at the PF position.
Cool. I like Ryan. Prediction; Ryan is healthy next year, plays the stretch 4 exclusively, and has a great year.
I would love for him to be able to show what he's really got. Was sooo pissed last year Byron broke him on the first day. That's why I've said I hope someone on the staff lets all these guys know they need to be prepared for that kind of boot camp right from the start until he's happy with their conditioning. No more effing injuries. For awhile at least and then nothing serious. If that happens we're in the playoffs... BOOM.
He has a lot to prove, if he's a 3pt specialist 33% ain't gonna cut it, zero mid range game and it's not like he's a D specialist either.
Yeah. At this point I'm just hoping there's some team out there that's still high enough on him to give up a mid-late 2nd rounder.
This is harsh..... http://www.complex.com/sports/2012/07/the-100-ugliest-athletes-of-all-time/ryan-kelly 84th all time. In history. The new hairdo helps though lol. To be fair, this was back in 2012
Dang man, when I see a Kelly or a Sacre thread bumped I expect to see one of them cut, got my hopes up. Didn't someone in game day doom last season call him a male model? I'm assuming that was a sarcastic dig, or they came from an area of very ugly people.
But like Sacre, he just seems to lack that ceiling of a good NBA player. He's had some good games, but nothing really screams "keeper", especially for someone who's supposed to be known for shooting, he's not the dead-eye shooting threat that we're expecting him to be.
He's been great at spacing the floor this pre-season. I'd rather have him than Jabari but that's not saying much. Hopefully soon we get to see Holmes get some run and obviously Upshaw. I want to see if they're good enough to cut Kelly loose.
what if he tricks us into a Waltonesque contract. :copshaq: Hopefully someone learned their lesson last time. :MitchReally: Yes, really.
I'm inclined to believe he makes the team, IMO. I think the idea of pairing him at the 5 with Bass against 2nd units is not a bad idea for stretches; while he's not the most agile/athletic defender, he uses his IQ to see a play developing before it even does and be in the right position to bother shots with his length. He's also been adept at attacking closeouts and provides spacing. With him and Bass you can also easily switch as well.
This doesn't mean I'd slot him at the 5 full-time as a backup, mind you. He's been productive at the 4, too, and you can slot him there as well.
Nice post. I keep losing track but as long as we have direct positions left to add Metta and Upshaw to that initial 15 man roster I am a happy camper. Whoa sorry!!! Huertas too. As someone else alluded to, without bouncing a ball or shooting a shot ..... he has already cemented a place on the roster. AMAZING how evident this is. Lou Williams is not that guy.
Russell/Huertas Clarkson/Lou Williams Kobe/Young/Brown Randle/Bass/Nance Jr. Hibbert/Black Metta should make the cut. I'd like to see Holmes and Upshaw get some run before making any decisions on Sacre and Kelly.
