Ron definitely brought intensity and energy to the game. I've gone from indifferent to thinking we should keep him around.

He really gave the team a sense of energy and spirit out there playing 100%.

Guys like Roy, Julius fed off that and started playing with more activity.

Ron HAS to make this team in whatever limited role he can provide.

I really think we need him. Also I love the fact that Randle will have to scrimmage against him in practice as it will bring out the best in the Beast.

Kobe fed off that energy as well. Metta needs to make this team.

Absolutely. Metta needs to be on the team. With that kind of energy and leadership, our young players will develop faster. Besides, Metta is entertaining, and that is also important when we don't have a team that can contend. We can at least be entertained and watch our young future stars develop, right?

Metta locked in his spot. Game changing energy and effort, and our young guys needed to see that. We have plenty of sacrificial lambs on this team that don't have a future on this team. I'd rather have him mentoring our young guys on how it's done.

yeah, as long as he can keep it up, should be a no brainer.

It is a lot to ask of a 36 year old body.

Well, it's Metta's 36 year old body which is probably more conditioned than most players already lol

Very clear how bad he wants to make the team. I'm sure there are a few players around the league that did not want to see that...lol

MWP set the tone. Julius and Roy were feeding off him. The confidence he instills to his teammates is invaluable and well worth the veteran minimum he is earning.

Metta, Kobe, and Roy fed off each other in an awesome way. Watching older guys like Kobe and Metta put their bodies on the line in a PRE-SEASON game set the tone. If we wanted to win this game we could have (instead we put Larry in there to finish?).

I loved what I saw from him. His shot is still terrible, but the rest of what he does is really good. Honestly if Lou can be a consistent scoring threat, we don't need Nick Young and I'd rather give those minutes to Metta so he can spark this defense.

As I said earlier in the thread, I think MWP's actually the best SF we have right now (I still don't consider Kobe a 3). I believe that if we want to increase our chance at winning games he should be on the squad. We don't have anyone else who can effectively match up defensively against the better SF's of the league. Yes, his shot is still broken like realdeal said, but that's the least of our worries. Lou, Kobe, Russell, Clarkson, Randle and Swaggy can score the ball. But no one else on this team can do what Ron can do. His ability to jumpstart the defense, plus his mentorship and scrimmaging with Randle are reason enough for him to stay.

No price for experience and The Artist Formerly Known As Ron Artest is invaluable because of it. During crunch time he can be counted on except maybe launching a shot. He'd do the right thing. Will he hold up physically? Maybe if his minutes are monitored. I don't think he'd gripe about his allotment like he did in Gotham as Scott will lean on him if he makes the crew. He's the 3 this squad desperately needs.

Metta is clearly in great shape and able to play at a level higher than I previously assumed. He was a difference maker out there last night.

Definitely has my vote for making the team. Once you saw that Ron Artest scowl you knew it was on!

Agreed. Plus I am just happy he didn't break himself diving 4 feet in the air headfirst over the first row of seats onto the concrete behind. Yikes. That had to open a few rooks' eyes. We've seen him do this many times but last night didn't look good when it happened. Popped right back up though.

Great also that he was able to run well and jump at all after sitting out the first game and practices because of a strained (?) calf muscle.

I dunno ......he had one 3 that rimmed out and maybe another close plus the ones he did put in up closer. Form's not bad and not like anyone else is lighting it up. Kobe starting to warm up though which is cool. I wouldn't say terrible but yeah you don't want Metta shooting a lot of Js unless he's hot occasionally for a short run.

Ron losing weight has definitely helped his mobility. I remember back in 2010 when I went to watch the LA - OKC playoff game live, Ron was as big as Bynum, just shorter. He was huge back then, football player size. I think dropping that weight will improve his lateral quickness on D.
