Do you know what his career Won Loss record is? Are we surprised by decisions we see daily? What is he known for in your opinion?

Phil Jackson: Triangle, Championships, managing egos, messing with refs, master of mind games
Popovich: Championships, disciplined program and system, turning the ordinary player into B+ talent, unselfish play
D'Antoni: 8 seconds or less, lack of defense, high scoring games, free flowing offense, playing a small rotation

You go could through this exercise with every coach, and it got me thinking of what I thought of when I thought of BScott as a coach. The number one thing?

Hard training camp. That's pretty sad.
2nd was that he had success with Hall of Fame PG's only.

Looking at his coaching record was a bit of an eye opener.
In short, I do think this is his last season here. I hope he proves otherwise since I root for Lakers, but I actually think this may be his last stop as a coach with his record.

You might have thought last season was his worst as a coach with only 21 wins. NOPE!
    Lowest win totals are 18, 19, 21 twice, 22, 24, 26
    That's embarrassing!!!!!!!
He's had 50 win teams twice.

If he can't improve this team and level of talent to be on the cusp of the playoffs at a minimum, I'm not sure the Lakers will have a reason to bring him back besides not wanting to pay another coach at the same time. He has a 4 year 17 million dollar contract, so there is a good chance we have another 3 years of this nonsense.

Here's a glance at his coaching record:

Buddies with his players and hard practices. Oh and talking defense and working well with PG's I guess.

I voted yes, because I just think ownership wants to give him time and the benefit of the doubt based on how many coaches we've gone through already

Being carried by great PGs. Tough old school minded coach. A stop gap for a head coach.

The first word that comes to mind when I think of B-Scott is "humorless." Watching him coach/talk/anything gives me a headache.

What's the first thing you think of when YOU think of Coach Byron Scott? Old School.

Lakers have smart fans, and I can tell you this much, Byron defenders/supporters are getting less and less by the day. I think more fans are starting or have begun to realize that we need to go in another direction when Kobe hangs them up or we just don't exercise the Team Option on Byron's contract.

To be fair, there's not much middle ground in this poll here. It's either championship or bust as choices. I see more of a middle ground. I think there's a lot of play here and it depends somewhat on what happens in free agency. If we get a biggie like Durant I think the FO will roll one year further with Byron and then ask KD who he wants to play for. At that point we might go after someone like Ollie and he might even listen.

If we strike out in free agency this summer or don't get quite as big a name - maybe DeRozan - I think we go longer possibly with Byron but of course it depends on how well he's doing. If we are sucking and look disorganized then it's one thing. If we are achieving or overachieving then I think he keeps the job.

I don't think there's any way to know for sure either way right now.

Byron has fared well with PG's in his tenure.

    Kidd, CP3, Kyrie (before injury).

And while I think Russell will be a star and have a successful career, he's going to need that franchise wing (JC?) that he's never really had to really get him going.

Byron is the guy that's going to rebuild a culture of hard work with a value on winning. He's going to wash out the stench of poor leaders like D'Antoni and Brown. Once the culture is changed it's likely he's replaced with a coach that has more of a feel for the Xs and Os and the corresponding trends that go with them.

Absolutely. All in all, this was the right hire for the right time. When we hired Byron, there was very little going for the team and morale was at an all time low around the organization. We needed a coach who was going to make it a point to change the culture back to winning, was respected by the Laker Community, and loved the organization enough to always keep their LONG term success as the ultimate goal. Bryon fit that bill as perfectly as you could ask. Ideally, in the next few years our roster will continually develop through experience, trades, and free agency to the point where we can judge our coach (be it Byron or not) purely on Championship success. However, our roster isn't quite there yet and that's okay right now.

I'm fine with pretty much any head coach after those 2 horrible years of Mike D'Antoni (AKA Mr. Pringles).
