It's so weird to see Kobe walk out in his jersey for media day, with MWP right behind him. I never expected to see that again. Aaand he's the first interview.
Metta is as good an interview as ever. Says his role will be to teach the young guys, and get out there when his number is called. If he's good with that, he could make the roster. The funny statement was that he has talked to teams about coming back, but no one has been willing to give him a chance because his career has been up and down, and because he's very direct in the locker room, "and loud". Also says he was lucky to have guys teach him and wants to do the same (lists Reggie Miller, Fish, Kobe, Pau as teachers. He of course talked about working with Randle, I'm sure those quotes will be Twitter posts. Also said this team will look to run with all the young players, they'll just have to "run smart". Finished with complimenting Hibbert's timing on defense with his shotblocking. And then said he believes Kobe will have a very good year because last year was more Kobe getting back in shape from injury and he knows how hard Kobe works, so he'll be good.
We haven't heard Kobe talk much about this losing the last few years, I liked his quote just now on that. He said you get to a point in the season where games no longer matter (because of our record), and that he's hellbent on not letting that happen this season. On being at a point late in the season where games have playoff implications. It may be out of his control, he may get injured, we may not be good, but I love hearing it anyway. I'm tired of the losing, I'm rooting for wins this season.
Awesome breakdown Weezy. This is my first post read after coming back into LB and seeing the Media Day thread up. There's a "Groundswell" of speculation growing that we may see considerably better legs on Kobe this year than in a number of years! Well .... me earlier and BadCoaching below anyway: "I think Kobe has the best legs (lolol) he's had since 2010. I think he'll surprise us all, he's not going down without at least another epic season in some form." ..... and now straight from the Panda's mouth above. Metta ....not Weezy. :headbounce:
The Nick Young interview was good, some laughs as always. I've been hating on the guy, but I know he can play, and if he's gonna be a SF for us we're gonna need him to do well. I'm certainly not rooting against him, I hope his game is back this season. He and Lou Williams off the bench can definitely be a force. Also, who let Ryan Kelly in the building?
