It’s really getting frustrating again with the on/off super long cycling delays. Something has to be not right with the software still?
I had trouble accessing this forum yesterday. Also when I'm using it on my phone it's a lot slower than when I'm using it on my desktop
Dang, every time this happens I don't know whether to feel excited or not. WTF man? Who got traded? Who got traded to us? Who got fired?
Snail=faster than this site Hope they get it updated and fix the issues I really miss this place when I can get access
There was a database issue that had the site down. That’s been fixed, but right now the problem is so many people are accessing LB at the same time for updates and discussion on the Lakers sale I guess. At present I see over 1000 guests viewing LB. They’re looking into how to improve speeds on the server side. But this site and the software is 16 years old now, so honestly it’s just time for a software update to get LB on a modern software set. I built LB from scratch originally, but don’t have the time to update LB to modern software myself anymore. My life has changed to the point I’m not on here much as I’m sure has been noticed but I do still care. I’m going to look into hiring someone to update LB since this has gotten to be a recurring problem that isn’t going away.
We appreciate you Barns You "saved" us years ago and gave us a new home. Hope we can help you somehow, just let us know.
Yeah, we appreciate you Barnstable. Running a forum is more than a pain in the arse. Even when you love it!!!! Aren't there any techie types around here who would be willing to donate their time and expertise to help this place?? When I ran my site I was lucky enough to find a frigging techie genius to help me with all my issues. He was excellent and saved my butt more than a dozen times.
That’s a big part of the problem. I have no background in web development or anything internet related. Only an art background. So most of creating LB was just me figuring out things and learning on the fly. At first I had thkthebest as a tech advisor so I could ask questions and get advice on how to do things on the technical side. He just disappeared. Hasn’t logged in since 2022, so yes I could figure things out for an upgrade, but I simply don’t have the time anymore to learn, and no tech advisors at the moment.
We could bootstrap something together I’m sure between tech people and donations. What stack is lakers ball currently built on? Edit: I saw that it’s running Xenforo, there is a 2.3.7 patch out. What version are we currently running? Maybe we can try to update everything and fix the server side issue / upgrade the server. And get it running smoothly? If there is a 1000 concurrent users checking it out when news drops, that’s significant.
