New Lakers Owners Discussion: Kushner + Iger

Been a fan since 1979 when this rookie named Earvin Johnson captured my basketball fandom.

 

That’s my hunch. The math is not adding up right now so there has to be a deep pocket somewhere that we don’t know about.

 

Jeanie wasn’t about the Lakers. Jeanie was about the buisness. It was good buisness to sale the Lakers. She stabbed all of her brothers in the back and her sister. Read the article. First it was Jim. I don’t give a f*** what they do. You don’t f*** over family.

Jesse and Joey were the worst. I guess Jerry knew what he was doing running it.

seems like Mark had to get out of some money problems. With a potential baseball lockout coming who knows where the money is coming from. That White House visit was more than a visit.

and he’s gotta pay all those players deferred contracts. Look at the Ohtani contract. As a Dodger fan we better win the World Series this year.

Lakers felt like the fun buy. The summer house. The vacation home. It was never the main home. So in a money crunch. You sale off the assets that are hobbies. Nice pleasures. Nice gifts.

I’m not gonna lie and act like Kushner Igar are Jeff Bezos. We go from one owner to two owners. We’re not in the Steve Ballmer league. He’s a deep pocket owner.

I woke up my mom called me and told me Kushner and Igar bought the Lakers. I said no Mark Walters owns the Lakers. He just bought them. Couldn’t believe when I saw it on ESPN. I was like this has to be a rumor.

 

if the saudis are financing this, that's certainly great news for the lakers. neither of these guys are wealthy compared in terms of nba owners, so the money has to be coming from somewhere

 

The good news is this won't stop us from winning the championship this season. New owners might get hooked on the feelin!!

Bob Igar took over Disney after all the political stuff. Stopped doing all that and focusing on the names they want to be called and went to buisness. They changed the splash mountain ride but that was about it. They bought the Star Wars exhibit there.

and bought Fox and the Star Wars franchise. I thought he was retiring. Or that’s what it was called. Both guys seem pretty liberal. But there are Trump ties. Pretty sure we’ll regularly be seeing Ivanka and Jared at games.

don’t think the money will be the problem. It’s just what they do with the money. Do they go over the salary cap??? Damn I’m glad Pelinka pulled off that Kessler trade. Now we see why. Who knows if it gets made now.

but kind of like Suge knight and Dr. Dre with Death Row records. There were innuindos where the money came from to front it. So people will be wondering where did the money actually come from to front this. And back it. But the Kushners have been all over Saudi Arabia trying to get money and do deals. No surprise about this one. All the owners approved because now all their valuations go up of their teams. And when they want to sale they won’t want anyone telling them they can’t sale.

That being said, Ballmer hasn’t done sh$t in the category of winning yet.
Built new arena: check.
Installed best toilet system known to mankind: check
Got all time most scummy and breakable player to come: check
Traded away future MVP candidate: check
I don’t care how deep his pockets are- his franchise still sucks and will continue sucking because all he cares about is the perception that his team is better than the Lakers.
He may be rich, but he’s a fool.

 

At least he is all in on spending whatever it takes. That’s all I want from our owners - I don’t wanna hear in 2-3 years we can’t pay 100m in luxury tax to give Luka a chance to win. You know Balmer isn’t even flinching at that.

In assessing this Lakers fans were done with Jeanie and the tight spending the not picking up Caruso because of the luxury tax.

so the word is stability. Mark represented that. Not having to worry about if your owner was going to trade your star player because of money. We felt like all we had to do was watch it. But now it felt like our Cinderella moment was f***ed when Walter had that investigation. And now this was a gut punch. Them???? Him????? And now we don’t have the stability. We are antsy. We saw the Dodgers and were like deep pockets. Now this and it’s like what can we expect.


will they go over the luxury tax. Will they flip Reaves for picks? Will they flip Luka for picks? Cause they want to get off of Money. All this s*** is real. So we don’t know.


All we see is Jaylin Brown getting traded to get off of his money. Lamelo Ball getting traded to get off of his money. So we don’t know.

Alex Rodriguez and Marc Laurie bought the Twolves and it was shed luxury tax. Trade Towns and Randle. So we’re shook now. And we don’t know what to think.

I hope they spend money I hope they are committed to winning. I hope they are committed to Luka and I hope they are committed to Reaves. Let’s build a championship.

but don’t think Donald didn’t have a conversation with Ivanka and say your Husbands family bought a team.

Donald will be going to games with his daughter and he’ll have his granddaughter Kai at the games.

I just had Obama getting a basketball team on the bingo card before Trump. I didn’t see that happening. I guess there’ll be a lot more golf at Trump in Palos Verdes.

 

I feel like some of the world's worst filth was just attached to the team I've been rooting for for nearly 30 years. I don't know a lot about the new owners, and we still don't know who else is involved, but the first glance is downright disgusting. Do these people have to destroy everything that's good with this world? I know I'm sounding dramatic, but can they not make money elsewhere and just leave at least sports out of their dirty machinations?

I sincerely feel like this is the this time true end of the Lakers as we know them. If it turns out the big rotten orange is involved in any capacity, I'm officially out with immediate effect.

 

if that entity is involved, we're definitely screwed, given the track record with literally everything.
