My first words to my daughter were "we finally get rid of LeBron and this happens!!!"...lol. The best I can do for optimism is to just wait and see. Getting in a swivet won't help. 10k time.
“If things change, they’ll change” is doing a lot of work in that statement but we will see. I would not feel comfortable at all in any position with the team outside of Luka and AR.
All this actually makes me respect and appreciate Joey and Jesse Buss even more. They were the two lakers siblings who voted against selling the Lakers to Walters in the first place. They were the ones who couldn’t be bought and unfortunately had to pay the price when Walters/Jeanie fired them because they couldn’t trust them to be loyal. Joey and Jesse showed through their actions that the Lakers flowed through their veins and I think it’s fair to say most Lakers fans want that out of an owner, and not have our favorite team he treated as nothing more as a stock that can be traded. It honestly does feel very hard to continue to be or for this team if the sentiment is that the owners priority is profits over winning.
Everyone will be here posting in October for the start of training camp and neglecting real life responsibilities as usual.
Iger can take an enormous step for me by using his media power to kill some of the nonsense constantly pumped out about us. This story will naturally be covered but Luka better be discussed favorably and in the MVP running.
Apparently CP3 is a very good friend and basketball mentor to Igor. CP3 is actually how Igor became a Clippers fan. I would not be surprised if CP3 is brought in as an advisor or some executive role. I do think this makes Rob Pelinka's job in doubt if the Lakers do not exceed expectations this season. They will want to move away from him just to get a clean start.
Jokes aside, word is a lot of this did come together very quickly. There’s no telling what direction they go in but I wouldn’t be shocked if they did put together their own group from the ground up.
At the end of the day you want a super rich owner that treats this as a passion and not a business so they pump stupid amounts of money into the team to build an edge. You see it with Balmer building a new arena and the whole toilets thing. If this is fund money as Iger and Kushner aren’t that wealthy, I wonder what kind of appetite they have to grow the team and spend on things at the edges or even pay the luxury taxes. Doesn’t feel great.
