It was their second round pick that was going back to school. The fact they were allowed a top 5 pick, one of the few assets they still have possession of, while this conveniently drags out into eternity is a massive black eye and embarrassment to the league.



There's a million times it should've been handled by now, but the most recent was when there was the first rumblings of a potential Kawhi deal. It's awful handling by the league to let it get to this point. They let it get to trade approval and then have multiple teams and players just waiting.

Clippers should forfeit two fists, be stripped of their MLE/BAE for two years and face a massive fine. Ballmer should face a separate fine. Kawhi should get hit with a large fine. Uncle Dennis should never be allowed to have any interaction with the staff of any team.

Then push the trade through and let's get on with it.

Not everyone has that opinion who’s answered. Tell me this … if Cameron was 205lbs right now coming in with that same game would you say that. Not to mention Wegler looks almost as skinny with soft looking definition. Cameron “may” wind up the better player and sooner. Long as his thinner frame doesn’t get him hurt. He’s definitely impressive.

 

mostly because his ceiling is as an offensive engine, and that’s what creates high lotto picks. I’d probably project Walter as better, but I’m not positive about that. Further, for us, wagler’s a bad fit in that his ceiling is actually just reaves, imo. Whereas carr’s ceiling is sg Mikal bridges, which is exactly what we need.

As Pablo Torre’s investigation into Kawhi Leonard’s off-court finances deepens, the paper trail leading to Rhode Island FC has pulled in another surprising NBA name: former Los Angeles Clippers center Daniel Theis.

On the latest episode of his podcast, Pablo Torre highlighted that Rhode Island FC publicly welcomed Daniel Theis into its ownership group in March 2023.


The connection caught attention because, according to Torre’s reporting, Leonard, his uncle and business adviser Dennis Robertson, and Leonard’s former agent Mitch Frankel also acquired ownership stakes in the soccer club – though their involvement was never publicly promoted.

No evidence was presented on the podcast suggesting that Theis committed any wrongdoing or that his investment was connected to the Los Angeles Clippers.

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – NBA superstar Kawhi Leonard is one of the long-hidden investors behind a controversial, taxpayer-funded Rhode Island soccer project, a 10-month Target 12 investigation has discovered.

The investigation – conducted in partnership with the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast and the investigative news outlet Hunterbrook – revealed that Leonard and his inner circle were quietly embedding themselves as investors in Rhode Island Football Club just as they were navigating the collapse of a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal 2,500 miles away.

In an interview, Rhode Island FC founder Brett Johnson of Fortuitous Partners confirmed the involvement of the Los Angeles Clippers small forward, along with Leonard’s uncle, Dennis Robertson, and his former agent, Mitch Frankel.

“Kawhi Leonard is a friend,” Johnson told Target 12 in March. He described the three men as “small investors” in the club.

Leonard and his associates became involved around the same time that Johnson was struggling to secure enough private financing to move ahead with construction of Rhode Island FC’s new 10,000-seat stadium in Pawtucket, which cost more than $130 million to build.

The previously undisclosed role of Leonard underscores how little has been known about who was backing the stadium deal, even with tens of millions in taxpayer funds on the line. Rhode Island FC has never publicly disclosed the identities of its full ownership group.

“We’re blessed with an incredible investor group, but there’s a lot of reasons why we keep it very close to the vest,” Johnson said.

Representatives for Leonard did not respond to requests for comment before the deadline for this report on Wednesday. Nor did Robertson or Frankel.

News of Leonard’s involvement stunned even those closest to the project, including elected leaders, public officials and consultants who were tasked with reviewing, approving and executing the stadium deal.

“If I were them, I’d be shouting it because of the positivity it brings to the organization,” Pawtucket Mayor Don Grebien said about Leonard.

Grebien, who provided critical political support to get the stadium built in his city, said he didn’t know about the superstar’s involvement until Target 12 asked him about it.

Even some of Rhode Island’s top officials appeared unaware of who was funding the soccer club. That includes Gov. Dan McKee, who has been a stalwart supporter of Rhode Island FC, and cast a tiebreaking vote in favor of public subsidies for the stadium in 2022.

 

yeah, i have no idea what that means (kawhi being involved with that project), but given other stuff, it seems unlikely that a) he just loves soccer or b) he was just supporting his good pal theis or whatever.
