Did you know that no team has ever won summer league and gone on to win the championship? I suppose it has something to do with good teams selecting so low in the draft. But I’m happy not to win it haha!

Adou is out of control and needs to slow it down a tick. Lots of effort and hustle

Kaluma has some skills and looks like we should find a way to keep him

Carr is smooth with a nice shot and can create

All of them need to work on FTs

I'm surprised that so many players have trouble with FTs

Adou seems to think he can take his dribble and big a** body through the tiniest spaces. :D On the plus side what a lob threat though with his hops and those huge mitts on the ends of his arms …. and he hit another 3 plus has nice FT form and often nothing but net. He’ll be in the rotation this year for sure. Hope our player development guys areas good as Handy was for us …. big shoes to fill there.

Playing with the regular crew he won't have to try to do so much.

These guys were very entertaining. Manon and Adou had some bad turnovers down the stretch. Not concerned because they won’t have to carry that kind of load on the parent club.

Manon looks good doesn’t he on that 2-way / maybe a future spot. Someone remarked a few days ago it looked like the coaching staff told him to push it more on offense to score and he’s looked better there as the tournament has gone on. Very good and heady on D. And anticipation and play making.

Adou too with the many different “types” of glimpses he shows us out there. They’re spectacular at times. Has hit a couple 3s and his FT stroke is nice and swishes most of them. Wow on his lob capabilities!!

Adou with the left handed finish on the lob was really impressive. His leaping ability is amazing and the talent is there. He's just really raw

Manon was a little out of control at times like the last drive where he should have been looking to pass and he got locked up. He is a good rebounder and has a shot. Needs more time in the G league IMO

Suder didn't play and Kaluma played starter minutes. Expect him to get that 2-way in the next few days.
    Lock him up!

Great stats by Thiero while Carr struggled a bit this game.
Really liked the development through the summer league of Carr, Adou, Manon and Kaluma. Great to see some youngsters showing promise, we'll need a few of them to pop in the next couple years

I do like that they played hard the entire game

Defense was aggressive which is good to see

Coach Ty Abbott had them prepared

To counter his straight line drives, He needs to develop:
    1. A floater in the lane to use when he can’t shoulder through his man
    2. A Euro Step
    3. A pump fake while stopped near the rim
    4. A drop step through while stopped near the rim
He’s young, so there’s still plenty of time.

I’ve seen him pump fake effectively, and I feel like he has some finishes in that 8ft area, too. Doesn’t quite have Gerald Wallace’s body control…

^He's pumped faked, and he's also Euro'ed stepped in a previous game. His handle is ok, probably better than what I expected, and his playmaking has been surprisingly decent at this level maybe even good at times - the left hand bounces off the bounce, etc. He does get beat laterally, some of that is technique, some of that he just can't stick, but he's a above average defensive roamer, with some versatility that can guard up. He rebounded well yesterday, too. The in-between game is improving. of course his athleticism is off the charts and hoping the finishing can translate at a good to elite level this year. The shot will take another 1-2 years.

Can he play the backup 5 with Mamu? Maybe just slot him there in 6 minute shifts at a time, see how it goes, and or even at the 4. I also think a lot comes down to if Kessler is taking 3's and at what rate he's making them? If he has any sort of gravity out there, that changes the dynamics. Theiro can play in the dunker spot role, and I think they can wreak havoc defensively. So, at this point, just defend, rebound, finish. Do all those at a good to elite level, know your assignments, be in the right spots, and continue to improve.

    Just finished the game.
The difference was we were like 5-25 from three and the Dubbs were hot from there.
That dunk block by Manñon was my highlight of the night. Too bad the refs showed him no love with how many times he was fouled.
Thiero looked mostly great, but Carr’s shot was off.
What the heck was Ike thinking with that blatant flagrant?? Just awful.
I loved seeing LO courtside wearing his two massive Chip Rings.

This summer league team played their a** off. They competed till the end this time against GS. It was a brutally ugly game. The final 5 minutes should go in an incinerator. Turnovers everywhere from both teams. Manon and Thiero had multiple bad ones late and that ended up costing us a trip to summer league finals.

Thiero was definitely the star of the night with those dunks and a hell of a stat line. I don't know what the rim did to him but I hope it apologized.

Kaluma was solid. Manon did a solid job getting to the rim and was aggressive on the glass. But outside of that, there wasn't much to write home about. Carr was ice cold.

Now that that's out of the way, LT brought up Okereke in the Kaluma thread and he's not worthy of being in there, so I'm pulling the convo over here.
I'll start with (and I think I've said this before)

    @Okereke

You don't have a NBA position. Your body belongs overseas. Too slow and awkward for the perimeter. Not good enough or strong enough to be a C, which is what he'd have to be.

He gets burned defensively outside the paint. He has length and some muscle to hold up in the post, but has the bend of the Tin Man.

Offensively if he knows here his GD feet are, he can maybe hit a corner 3 for you and he did shake those yips towards the end of summer league. He can't dribble. He can't back you down. Both for the same reason, he extends the ball 3 feet from his body. Any NBA player will rip that from him before he knows what happened. He hasn't shown a post move that will scale up out of college. If you hit him on the move and he doesn't have to put the ball down, there's something to work with. But DAMN that's a lot of limitations.

Kyle didn't show much after the early stretches, but out of the bigs on the roster I'd rather go with him. Hustle, active hands, defensive switchability, high motor and infectious energy scales up.

I'm actually hoping we can find a better center and PG to poach from some other G-League team's roster and end up giving one of them the final 2-way spot. We need to start bringing better guys at both of those positions to the summer league team, ESPECIALLY point guard.

He wears eyewear on the court. Kurt wore eyewear on the court. Rostering him for a single second was either a favor for someone's illegitimate child or

Kyle is the one with that horrible shooting motion where the guide hand is nowhere near the ball? How does someone come this far with that …. wow.
