Fantastic breakdown. Both Cam and Adou have correctly stated what they need to work and are shoring up deficiencies, exciting times for Laker fans. On top of everything else they are fun to watch and easy to root for.

Have you seen his Captain America shoulders …. I might forget about calves.

Year 3 baby … going to break out. Unfortunately probably somewhere else. Less’n we get lucky and it’s as a Laker for at least up until the trade deadline or maybe beyond.

I’m all in on watching Adou and Carr develop this season.
I’m very interested to see just how short a leash JJ holds for both.
Last season, it couldn’t have been any shorter for Thiero.

All Adou needs to do is slow down and let the game come to him and not always be looking to show off his athleticism. Pick and choose those spots like Carr seems to have already figured out, and tighten his decent for his size handle further to open many more possibilities for his usage. The D seems to be coming along really well. Also would prefer to not see so many dunks with his body suspended horizontally 8-9’ in the air and momentum braked only by his sweaty hands grabbing the rim in that moment. Super dangerous if they slip. Maybe just me being a p**** worrying but Knecht (I think it was?) had one of those this season and landed flat on his back.

Adou keeps making seriously out of control drives with handles and moves he can’t pull off yet. But it appears Ty Abbott is encouraging the efforts. Abbott is also lead player development coach for the organization. If and when Adou can start knocking down a decent per cent of his shots from outside and get control of the advanced handle stuff he’s working on .. look the freaking hell out. Late in the game he put on a lightning fast and coordinated spin move set up with the dribble to blow by a defender and get to the rim …. instead of stumbling and falling again …. and it was one of those “glimpses” of his potential.

Adou just needs court time in meaningful games, hopefully we are the team smart enough to give it to him. JJ is good in a lot of areas, player development is not one of them. Very important we see a substantial improvement this year. New management seems to be focusing on young guys and development. We shall see. JJ doesn't get this right he might be a short timer.

He could try anything he wants in SL. Now is the time. During the season and last year in G-League, he's working as a screener and a roller. Due to this lack of shooting, that's probably where you need to use him offensively; he could be a fantastic short roller with his finishing ability, and I think he has the vision if the defense collapses to make the right reads.

The shot just isn't there right now. He's 0-9 on 3 attempts so far. I'd like to see that FT percentage trend toward the mid-70's too. I like him, but the shooting needs to get better.

Makes sense why we’ve been using him some on pgs in summer league. Unfortunately he’s looked better playing back line.

I like Adou as he can play almost anywhere defensively 1-4. He has the strength, athleticism, wingspan and obviously, his three point percentage is not going to stay at zero. He will start clipping at 30+ % soon. He would be a nightmare for bigger slower players to guard. We need to be creative with him for sure.

I’ve seen little evidence he can guard 1s or 2s. 3,4, and maybe small 5s even (he’s strong), but the lateral quickness isn’t there for nba level ball handlers, imo.

no shame, anunoby doesn’t do great there, either.

You have seen little evidence which indicates at least you have seen some...lol. Which is actually still pretty good. Ideally, I want to see what he looks like as a four. He can guard the smaller quicker players by roughing them up a bit, being smart and playing angles but I want to test his versatility to the max. As you know, being the basketball genius that you are, defense is a thinking man's game and Adou has all the physical gifts.

it’s funny that Adou was kind of dogging his own hoop iq in that interview.

you’re right that he was taking bad angles on guards, and he was kind of flat footed—those things are coachable.
