gotta be. no way they're going to roll in just like this. they have the big TE and some picks. i've been expecting them to land murphy, but maybe NO is still doing...whatever they're doing down there...

yeah, the compromise shouldn't be the QO, imo. or the QO should just be much higher. like, if you decide to protect the player via RFA, this must mean you value them, but watson's QO is 6.5m. denver may actually benefit tremendously from watson just signing the QO, as it would allow them time (maybe the full year) with their full roster AND while he'd be a UFA next year, they'd still have his bird rights--at a time when few teams have cap space. guessing eason's agent saw that writing on the wall and just took something over the mle.

so yeah, if the QO, say, exceeded the mle, that might help a bit?

I think if you can get a second rounder for Bronny from Cleveland, that gives you 4 to package around Vando, Hardy and Knecht. It'd have to be to the Nets.

Regardless, If 24 million is the contract offer to Watson, I think Denver matches.

i think they do, but i think it opens the door for us to nab jones from them plus potentially another player or even to absorb some salary and picks in trade to replenish what went out, worst case. it's not like any of the outgoing players are going to be sorely missed, so it could be worth it just to take the swing.

also, i don't want to see denver wriggle out of watson's FA like houston did with eason. on a truly open market, eason's getting a deal starting north of 20, imo, and watson's getting one starting around 25 (which is all he's asking, apparently).

IMO we need to stop with the divisive racist posts. They may appear humorous on top but dig a little deeper. They portray the laker organization as intentionally trying to do something they are not. I have already heard kids talking about this topic at open gyms and I think we need to be more aware of what we do and be better examples for our youth. Here at lb we can be part of the solution instead of adding to the problem.

while i agree that it's not super productive to focus on player race, i also don't know that goofy memes from fans are really the drivers of the worst stuff. stephen a smith claiming lebron didn't want to play with a bunch of white guys is the problem that needs immediate remedy (instead of that clown getting reinforced with more attention).

it's ok to admit that our team is 50% white in a league that's 20% white, which is unusual. it doesn't mean it was the result of strategy or that success or failure is connected to this demographic variable. it's when people suggest that it's intentional that it becomes kind of gross and dangerous.

i also wonder whether us being a historic rival to boston (who back in the 80s were considered "white" because some of its top players--including its superstar--were white) doesn't drive some of the interest here.

    but yes, it's dumb.

Naw man you're good. Those are funny in the meme sense, and what abeer said about Stephen a-hole Smith using it for clicks and ESPN apparently being OK with it. I put the meme pic up first here when I first saw it. Clever play on the name from 80s. A few random posts here ... maybe .... sometimes. And I agree with Toklat that no way the FO is intentionally creating the situation other than basketball reasons for who's available and/or gettable for prioritized team needs.

oh sorry, i don't think anyone needed to apologize. it is unusual that the team has a bunch of white players, and it's ok to note it in funny ways (at least by me). it's not ok to make it serious like smith did.

i also agree with toklat's general sentiment that we can make sure to watch the manner in which we discuss it.

And just to be clear, I know people here are just having fun. My work likely makes me overly sensitive to this issue, I would just like us to be careful. I apologize if my post was overly aggressive or pointed at any one person, it was not. We have a great community.

I am a fairly conservative guy, this did not offend me at all. We should constantly be aware of racial stereotyping. It is not good for anyone. Our society puts too much emphasis on it. We are all humans. We can all contribute is great ways.

Man watching Cam Carr. We got a special player there. That Jump shot is beautiful. It’s high it’s a quick release. And you can’t contest it. And he can get to the basket whenever he wants to. The athleticism. You see the dunk. Me scouting. I’m looking at him with Luka and Reaves on the court. That’s gonna be a problem for teams. Because he can shoot. And he can shoot in the corner. Luka can find him. And then the release is quick. But you got Reaves. Cam can pass it.

so Luka’s gonna be throwing lobs to him when he cuts from the corner and you have Kessler on the other side.

This can be a special team. We essentially have a core of 4 players that impact the game. Luka Reaves Carr Kessler. I haven’t even gotten to Grimes yet with the spacing.

so adding a Kaminga or Hachimura is essential to already what we can do. At this point Thiero just play lock down top D. And make your corner 3’s. And we have the makings of a championship team.

If we clear Jake it’s a 30m offer. That could mean they have to dump Braun or Cam. At which point were the only team with space to absorb Cam with no salary going out.

The rumblings are if we offer the contract in the 6th, they have to match pretty much in 48 hours. I mean I’d love to bust them up a bit.

As for Spencer Jones, he wants 4m from Denver. He could be a really easy get if our FO cared about defense.

You should use it as a teaching moment for your kids. Why do the lakers have a lot of white seemingly non athletic guys on the team.

Kessler is a really good example of high level defense, positioning fundamentals and doing the dirty work like screens, boxing out and rebounding.

Reaves has learnt the dark arts of Ginobili and Harden and how to draw fouls, as well as fundamentals on passing and running an offence.

Luka is a maestro that can do it all on offense but he slows the game down to his tempo and controls the whole heart beat of the floor.

Mamu uses his IQ to bridge the gap against athletic mountains to be good on both sides of the floor.

Here are seemingly non athletic guys using IQ, grit and fundamentals to bridge gaps. And it shouldn’t be color related because anyone can do the same. I would argue it’s been a big benefit of euro prospects that they’ve just been taught better fundamentals than the North American kids that focus on running faster and jumping higher.

i mean, draymond green is unathletic for an nba player, and has been since day one.
