Yeah man, just imagine the chemistry of our Big 3. The role players are solid, hard working, energy guys. We can still make a move for a wing and that will tie everything together. But naybe they are thinking of throwing the the new “super athletes” to the lions right away and seeing who is the real gladiator and who isn’t. We’ll see.

I forgot we don’t have a starting PF either, good lord. Mamu looks like a nice backup, but we legit don’t have a starting 4, have no idea if we’re even looking for one. Don’t really have a starting wing either, Grimes is not that and Luka can’t guard threes. Yikes.

Be serious man. You can say that this team is not bad if you want to be optimistic, you can say they’re good if you want to be super optimistic, but this team is objectively not a championship contender. Did you watch the WCF and Finals? The level of basketball being played there, from the scoring to the insane levels of tough defense, is something this roster couldn’t dream of doing.

You crying to the wrong dude. Level of basketball in the NBA right now is weak. A couple of our young guys pan out we are right there. If you feel better being negative, have at it but I'm not joining in.

I think we'll need a year to establish rotations and roles a little better, but I think fans will also be very surprised.

He’s a better starting 4 (and a significantly better small ball 5) than Rui. Luka is a net positive defender and will guard SG’s and SFs.

I'm giving them half a season for that. I'm in no way guaranteeing a championship but if things went our way I wouldn't rule it out. Most champs have good luck with health and other teams not so much. We do what we can can but a lot is out of our hands. With upper talent like Luka, AR, and Kessler and luck, who knows.

Losing LeBron Rui Smart and Kennard who are starters or part time starters on a Top 4 team…this is now officially a rebuilding year

The guys we picked up are better than what we lost. Rebuild is way ahead of schedule. I know many don't want to admit it, but not having to deal with LeBron's me first attitude is going to be huge. Some players are going to feel like they were let out of prison. There is a reason the Lakers front office didn't want him back. They could have had him and chose not. Franchise is no longer held captive. Even if it takes 2-3 years it had to happen.

I don't share the doom and gloom around here. We got the best C out of the available options, who really wasn't that available. We had to overpay to get him. Could it be done for less? IMO, that's debatable, I choose to believe it wasn't, and at the end of the day I'm happy the Lakers made this decision. We now have a very promising center to pair with Luka, signed for a few years at a number which seems to be below what everybody expected / his market value.

As for the other additions, I would prefer some better defenders and athletes, but all address specific needs and seem like relatively good fits. They may be slightly overpaid, but not by much. Which means, they should be tradeable if necessary, especially after having spent some time on the floor with Luka and Austin. Those moves while not perfect are fine, considering the limited amount of assets we had and the limited FA pool. I'm also good with that.

While we lost some important players and there's just no replacing Bron, the guys who left were either aging and burdened with serious injury concerns or extremely limited on the defensive end.

At the end of the day, I feel like our team this coming season should be approx. as strong as last year's, but at least to me, the future seems brighter, we have more foundational pieces now and a core we can build around. Hopefully some of our young guys pop this season (looking especially at you Thiero).

I agree with most of this. We have already replaced LeBron impact wise. We are not talking about the LeBron of old, and Thiero only needs JJ to give him minutes. Nice post.
