Bring Rui back for sure and get Johnathan or John Collins. I think go younger and more athletic. Let Luke and Smart go. Try to trade Dalton to nets for Zaire. Even see if can replace LeBron with Michael porter jr

We are in for a rude awakening if we think Kuminga is one of our answers lol. He or Tobias Harris better not be this rumored player we had lined up to replace LeBron if he walked.

oh, i definitely don't love kuminga. i just think he could potentially find a role here. gs asked him to do things he couldn't, imo, and i'm not sure atlanta was super serious about him.

He would be an interesting gamble, possibly at the room level. But hopefully it's like plan D

I'm okay with Kuminga but he can't be THE wing acquisition of the summer.

This isn’t on Rob IMO. Bron is a diva and left MIA in part because Riley told him he couldn’t have cookies on his flight. Guy will use any excuse to say he’s disrespected.

Edit:I left out that he tells us the day after the deadline to guarantee Bronny’s contract. Tell me that’s a coincidence.

Can we still sign Jalen Duren and get wing help like brining Rui back and Zaire Williams or Smart or Kaminga?

    Yes.

    52M in cap space
Around 9M on room exception (we should use this one today, doesn't affect cap space and RFA offers)
33M in tradable contracts outside Luka/AR

i think the hope is get the rui replacement with the room exception. if we went after kessler, we'd enough to offer about the same to keep kennard from the remaining space. so yeah, the most i would expect us to announce today is two 9m per-ish signings. but we may need that full 52 for whatever the plan is.

Yeah, the not going all in part is my concern. Feels a bit too much like what we've done for the last several seasons. We've got the cap flexibility, picks, etc to build things up now and need to get as close as we can to being a contender.

I'm honestly not here for some kind of 2027/2028 plan at all unless we have completely new people running the show.

The thing about the next days is that the names that aren't signed until July 8 are the important ones.

Glad we have Ayton as a placeholder. Downside is we only trade him after getting Duren/Kessler so we may hold down trades too.
Maybe we can agree some deal that can get extended later? RFA is really tricky to navigate, very curious to see what happens today

To add on here, I’m told that Jalen Duren very much wants to play in Sacramento and Kings big man Domantas Sabonis is likewise interested in the prospect of landing with the Pistons.

Per league sources, the most likely scenario here would include Kings forward Domantas Sabonis heading to Detroit.

The key question now is how the Pistons..

I can't possibly believe Duren wants to go to the Kings. Much less with potential offers from the Lakers and the East #1 seed.
It only makes sense if we actually don't want him and he's using our name to get Detroit to pay him and the Kings are the only max offer.

Get Kessler and Robinson. At least Robinson can be cheap-ish and a signing we can do like today.

kuminga and/or Peyton would be nice. Also, please re-sign most of our guys back. I know we can’t get everyone but most would be nice.

that should be enough for now.

It’s too bad we can’t try and trade like Bronny and Dalton and a pick for like Klay or some decent role player such as him.

Still think Zion would be a good trade. Value is low and would give Luka a lob threat from the 4. Just feel like he, Luka and AR would be a dynamic trio.
