how does OKC trade two second round picks to get a mid first rounder and we can't even move up at all lol
We keep going for guys that slip. I know nothing about him. Seems to be an athletic guard that shoots well and rebounds. Hope he does good
definitely highest upside left on the board, imo. measurables very similar to djj. maybe not quite the athlete, but quite an athlete nonetheless. and he can shoot it. can't do a whole lot else but dunk and shoot threes. but...we could use this! edit: looked it up, same 42 inch vertical as djj. look away if you're still scarred by knecht, but i think the fear is the hoop iq, lol.
He at least was well-spoken and mature when they did the brief interview after the pick. I don't think the same has ever been said about Dalton.
i've got double dalton fear because like dalton, i was in on him early (before he rose in the pre-draft process...then fell again). me on april 14th: let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.
Spurs get Quaintance and Tarris Reed. They don't play On Carr, saw his interview with ESPN and he was not incredible. But let's give him time I really enjoyed listening to Greaves. I think that kid will be good
I think it's a great pick as he was slated to go late lottery. Baylor has had some good guards lately in Edgecombe, Carr and Yessofou. Body type, I think Vassell is a good comp and he has a similar quick trigger. One thing I liked about him is that it's not only dunks near the rim (though the dunks are impressive), he has a really nice finger roll and can finish both hands. Another guard to me means Rob still has the final say on picks. I don't think it's a Knecht situation in that he played in the combine scrimmages and carried himself confidence-wise like he was already in the league while the others were still trying to make it. So at least among his peers he showed out, I think the main question mark is his defense. Unsure about his defensive IQ but he does block a lot of shots for a guard/wing and he's a good rebounder. As far as a physical/skills prospect we couldn't have done better in the late 1st rd. No telling if he'll get minutes next season but looking forward to summer league! I hope we buy #37 from OKC but my gut feeling is they're just going to wait for the UDFAs. Other quick thoughts, I like what the bulls are doing with Caleb Wilson and Dailyn Swain plus Claxton. They're young but should be fun to watch. I'm surprised Cenac fell so far, Spurs look like they want to lean even more into defense and maybe protect Wemby more. Nets got a couple of good ones with Mikel Brown and Josh Jefferson. Interesting that Denver traded out of the 1st rd.
If you liked Reed, I think we could get Tobe Awaka as an UDFA. He's measured similarly and provides a lot of the same, elite rebounder, 6'-10" 260lbs, great screener, can finish a lob and throw his weight around. Also for those who like Claxton (myself included), I think Rafael Castro is in that mold and he played well in the scrimmages. We worked him out and he might not get drafted.
