Abeer you make sense. But don’t you think the Reason OKC lost was Jalen Williams??? The dude is Shais Scottie Pippen. He covers so much. Defense offense. Guy had 40 points in a game 7. Why would you trade that????

Nahhh here’s the thing about San Antonio. They just beat a generational team. The OKC Thunder were deep. They play defense. They’re coached good. Disciplined. And they beat them. Came back in that series.

there’s no we’ll be back mindset it’s our league you never know. Look how Wembys been with injuries. You think that team is gonna be like well we’re good???

Nah Wemby won’t let them. He’s a Kobe clone jobs not finished. If Kobe had a son he’d be Wemby. Dude cares about winning so much. Did you hear his postgame presser?? Dude said he would give his everything to win. Like said he would give his life to win. Who says that??? He said he would die to win.

He cares about winning. He takes it so seriously. The guy is going to give his all. The guy is a stud.

    He’s just different.

those players are pretty mature. And their coach Mitch Johnson is very good.

When you’re in the finals. You have to win it.

i just think maxes for SGA, williams, AND holmgren will sap their ability to keep a lot of the rest of the roster. like, if ajay mitchell can provide 3/4 of what williams does at 1/2 the price (right now much less), and you can get serious value back for williams, don't you consider it?

anyway, yes, they may win if williams is available, and i'm guessing presti sees it like you do, too.

i'm just nowhere near as sure as most people that they can keep cycling in role players that all fit and work like the duncan spurs did all those years. but maybe they can--and maybe all these guys look good there and would/will be bad elsewhere. i just think they kind of caught lightning in a bottle with a bunch of young guys kind of peaking at similar times and buying into the concept. some of that took years to build, and i don't know if you can just plug and play. though i guess mccain showed up and was part of everything in a week, so who knows?

i guess my feeling is that jaylin williams (not jalen) and dort will probably look like garbage on other teams, but I ALSO think finding the next jaylin williams and dort for their system might not be that easy.

I can’t stand his attitude or how much he illegally carries the ball and isn’t called for it.

    Basketball is matchups.

    Harden got cooked

    Mitchell got cooked.

Theres no Maxey or Edgcomb to cook.
    That opens everything up.

These guards guard even Fox but Harper and Castle do.

and Brunson will get his but it won’t be a cakewalk. Shai is an MVP and he had a rough series.

we saw Murray against Minnesota. When you got guys who can guard it’s tough.

Towns at point forward is an adjustment. But they have Wemby.

this goes 6 like when we played the Pacers in Game 6 and won. But the Spurs give the Knicks a lot of problems.

And they got a guy who said he would die to win. Wemby is a special player. Like a Jordan. They give their all to win. He will do extra things. And the Knicks have players to move him around but he’s going to be able to do what he wants on offense. He’s gonna shoot from any part of the court and score at will at the rim. Having Fox for pick and roll will make this Spurs team different.

And Mitchell Robinson playing with a broken pinkie against Wemby is going to be pretty different for New York.

One thing I noticed against Wemby is that SGA could get his shot off in the mid range. That spells good news for Luka in the future, if he can get into the paint and have a defender on his back, he’ll be able to get his pull up jumper. If Wemby over helps, we need a lob threat because Luka will find them even over/past Wemby.

I think the difficulty will be finishing at the rim but you’ll get mid range and 3’s from the Spurs.

Another thing on the Spurs. We see how many guys get calf injuries and Achilles. Who’s to say Wemby doesn’t get an Achilles or a hamstring?? Look at Wemby. You never know. You gotta win it when you can win it. And more than the Spurs I think Wemby knows that. I just to me it feels like Chicago beat their Detroit.

and I know they’re young. Orlando was young in the finals to against Houston. I get it. But these guys look different. And this kid looks different.

everybody was saying OKC was gonna 3 peat after winning the championship last season. And saying San Antonio is too young. So we’ll see. But you never know. You gotta win it when you can cause you don’t know when you’ll get back. Look at Indiana with Haliburton. Or Boston with Tatum.

And when we won with AD I thought our Window we could at least win one more that following season. AD looked like he was going to go on a run. So you just don’t know when you’ll win that championship. You never know. It is tough to get back. A lot has to go right for you to win the championship.

I don’t think Wemby is that good offensively yet. If he is handling the ball, smaller guys can pick his pocket. If he doesn’t have space, he can’t get his 3 off consistently and he doesn’t have a crazy consistent bag to score in the post consistently. That’s why he had some bad games vs OKC, that side is still a work in progress.

However, defensively he is the 1A in this league. Guy is incredible. I just think he will have issues if he has to guard KAT at the 3 point line constantly.

    This website is funny.

I didn't watch any of those Knicks-Spurs game, nor do I predict many of you did but are acting like experts on what took place in those games.

    Good grief.

We’re on a basketball forum to discuss basketball and give our opinions - what do you expect?

I’ve watched a lot of spurs games the last 2 years because I think Wemby is an all time great in real time. But he isn’t a finished product yet.

i assume you mean SGA, and yeah, the fact that he's kind of haughty about what he gets away with is kind of grating. i actually think he's probably an alright guy; he just had some stuff handed to him and started to believe that it was just.

yeah, i think wemby knows he could have a short prime, and he wants to be the best ever, legitimately. guy gets after it.

also agree that if fox's ankle has some time to mend in the next few days, he's the x-factor that could deliver the ring to SA. as svtzr notes, wemby's offense isn't title-caliber right now:
they're getting by with timely contributions from role players working off the attention wemby draws. but the idea that he's like a giant durant on offense...just...no. not at all. he doesn't trust his shot, and you can tell.

    defensively, good lord.

other thing was the mid-post dump-offs were gold all series for okc. get those floaters and attack the glass. that was a solid strategy that almost worked and might have if they had mitchell and williams to help salvage some of the possessions where SA blew up the SGA actions. caruso, dort, and even wallace (whom i love) just aren't playmakers, and their finishing comes in only two varieties (layup/open three).

as i said a couple months ago, if ayton wants a big paycheck, he should just watch hartenstein footage 24/7 (he won't, because he's getting stoned, but i digress...). no reason ayton shouldn't be able to absolutely feast on catches in the middle of the paint with nobody around him. you can do that against these rangy rim protectors, and if you miss, they've had to contest and you can pound the offensive boards (imagine lebron here).

what value would they be getting for their elite two-way 2nd option that fits great with their franchise player? they already own a truck load of picks, they can go get any tradeable player.

unless there's something wrong with his health, they'd be desperately stupid to trade him, regardless of the haul. Teams have historically tanked for decades just to have the chance of acquiring a 1-2 punch like SGA and Williams, and they have them both, and are still very young.

if they want to go all out for the next 2 seasons, they'll probably move Chet for Giannis, as that probably makes sense for both teams. Milwaukee can give it a go with Chet, get his numbers up and then choose to keep or flip him for more picks. For OKC it's a low risk move, because they own so many assets, they can afford to make mistakes. They will still probably be able to move Giannis in a year if it doesn't work out.

I am much more worried about our ability to compete with both OKC and Spurs in the next few seasons, really can't see it. Realistically, our superstar is as good as theirs, but the rest of the roster is probably not going to be and we have much less assets.

milwaukee would be stupid to take chet for giannis, imo, and i've already outlined the other reasons why moving williams could make sense. if you disagree, ok.

but okc actually can't afford to make mistakes, as their whole thing rests on SGA--and his favorable treatment from officials, tbh. contrary to popular belief, their hit rate in the draft isn't incredible, and contention has actually set some development opportunities back.

i find it funny that you want to dump reaves but think okc couldn't possibly consider moving williams, btw. he's not a superstar, either.

as for us competing...we have luka, as you said. puncher's chance because of it. we're not in that bad a position, just need to get things right this summer and hope we're the team without a muscle strain one of the next three years.

He's a two-way player who fits a lot better with their franchise player than Reaves does with Luka. If he were a Laker, I wouldn't think of trading him either.

and the reason I'm right is that if we offered Reaves plus all our picks to OKC for Williams, they're absolutely not doing it.

Chet would make an excellent tank commander. He is a very good defender and a good shooter that can plug into a lot of teams - but he can’t get you many wins on his own.

If you can find a wing to pair with him that can create off the dribble, you have the makings of a good team imo.

Milwaukee can develop him offensively and bump up his numbers and then can always move him because he is young and has a rare skillset. There's always going to be some interest in a 7'1 guy who can defend and shoot. I don't agree with abeer at all, I think it makes a lot of sense.

i question how two-way he actually is, tbh. reaves is as good or better offensively, and not the liability on defense that people suggest. like, opposing pgs could iso and roast williams all damn day, too. okc just has four guys that make that action hard to come by, and we have one.

as for chet, begging you to watch him try to create on offense. nothing there. nobody's scared at all, ever.

he's got a bit of young Ja in him: not so much he's trying to draw the foul the dude is just aggro

I get where you're coming from but OTOH how much help does Shai need here? OKC still had holmgren, cason wallace, caruso, hartenstein, mccain, dort, the other williams etc. I mean after Lebron and Reaves all those players would have been ahead of everyone on the Lakers rotation except Smart somewhere in there

Lebron dragged a team with Larry Hughes as his second best player to the finals and was tied with the Warriors with JR smith as his second best player
