He was played in 15 out of 17 games after he came back from injury and then got injured again. I’m pretty sure you guys think he was far healthier than he really was. The only time he didn’t play but could have was for a 4 week stretch in March when we were cruising. That’s what 12 games out of 82?
Playing for two minutes at the end of a game is not “development.” That’s just giving the rotation guys rest in an already decided game.
Ok JJ you know Theiro wont s*** in his shorts at least in a playoff game - give him Jakes minutes now
Athletic, crashes the boards on both sides with a knack to rebound. Defensively the game is too fast for him at the moment. Had an open look and didn't want to take the shot. He needs to work on his shooting and his defense this offseason. He has the high flying dunk thing already.
I like his energy. He continues to show he has the archetype to be a great role player. It still doesn't translate in the game which is normal with his age. Absolutely believe he needs the reps and it's JJ job to find consistent minutes for him during the season. He needs to be part of the rotation so he continues to grow and eventually starts to be the player we think he can be
That's probably a step too far. We tried to do this with Max his second year and it became quickly apparent he wasn't ready for it. It wasn't until halfway through last season that he became a 20+ minutes per game player. I think something like 10-15 minutes a night to start next year is about right. I think he and Jake will each get a chance to earn the backup SF role.
Great to see him out there eating up the minutes and gobbling up rebounds. He's 2 years away but should definitely be logging double digit minutes next year. Sadly he led us in rebounds and only played 13 minutes
He will be much better in two years but he can help us now while he is getting better. You just pointed that out with the rebounding. Not getting him minutes when available was a big failing for JJ.
Agree. I think whiffing on Maxwell Lewis, JHS, Knecht really hurt our bench depth. This would have been their time to step up and audition for that next contract. I've got high hopes with the Bennet hire that we'll get it right in the upcoming draft. I know it's all a big crap shoot but let's get some 2nd's and give ourselves a chance.
lol, i was going to post something similar. i could actually see thiero given the pole position in training camp and jake (yes, the guy we all hate now) just taking the spot from him, tbh. but i do hope we get to see more of him next year, for sure.
I'm surprised we haven't hired a renowned shooting coach. Do we have one? I'd be working with him night and day on his shot. He gets that to even league average, and he could help next season.
I think you put him into the fire and give him that 20 mins. If he develops defensively, you're in the positive, if his shot comes across, you've added exactly the profile we need. Christie was never the athlete that Adou is, and didn't have the raw parts.
