Let it be known that if you end up on the bench of the playoff team, then you suck.

This also means that Vucevic is trash and it’s a good thing we didn’t waste any assets on him.

Let it be known.. that if you can't get off the bench during the regular season, on a lottery team, and then can't even get spot minutes on a playoff team, that needs some guard help...you probably suck. We most definitely shouldn't waste any assets on HIM.

Suggs contract is decreasing as the cap is increasing. He is 17% of the cap next year, then 15%, then 14%.

    26-27: 29.6
    27-28: 26.8
    28-29: 26.7

Sorry Slick you’re right. Sportrac updated the current year to 26-27 without me realising in the last few days.

    So it does:

    26-27: 32.4
    27-28: 29.6
    28-29: 26.8
    29-30: 26.7

For reference the MLE should be about 18-19 by the end of his contract, so it starts off a little high but gets better in value every year.

What I’m saying is people here want to pay big for mediocre players Iike Suggs, Watson and worse bench bum Ellis but won’t pay for Rui who has proven to be the best shooter in the World lol.. Marcus Banks syndrome

I agree the guy is not cheap from an a financial standpoint. What I meant was in terms of we would pay less assets (not monetary) for him than if he was playing really well (not trash). Hence, buy low.

Kind of like how we bought low for Luka with various folks fat shaming him. We only had to give up a snicker bar and a soda for him, bit still have to pay him 60 million or so. But we bought low. If he was in tip top shape he woudlnt habe been available.

let it be known that someone trying to help slick argued that people weren't saying ellis sucked.

also let it be known that cleveland employs donovan mitchell, james harden, max strus, dennis schroder, and jaylon tyson at a salary total exceeding 130 million dollars extending into next year.

it's possible they just dumped hunter's contract on a d****** kings team with ellis being strus insurance. schroder was the tax they had to pay, and he once again hoodwinked a coach into playing him.

You can't really buy low on Suggs to his monster contract. His shooting hasn't progressed now for muliptle years - this isn't a one time issue for him
I like Suggs he clearly impacts winning but his teams dependence on him also reflects Orl's shortcomings. they need him but can't overcome his offensive challenges.

Marcus Smart does non-smart things at times and his shot can come and go but Marcus is just a much better passer and has a varied offensive skillset (post-ups, floaters) that Suggs just doesn't have

Sure. But will you, like @svtzr, absorb Suggs salary?

I really like Rui, I just don't know about his fit here. I mean, I suppose after Lebron it's better, but we'd need a good rim protector if you're playing Luka, Reaves, Rui.

I think Rui is worth 25m per impact wise, but there isn't that kind of money on the market this offseason. If we could get him for MLE money, you have to consider it IMO. He would be a perfect fit in the spurs and I imagine they throw their MLE at him.

    Fox / Harper
    Castle
    Vassell
    Rui
    Wemby

Rui has shown to be an effective large wing defender, plus his shooting and the guard defence of Spurs with Wemby and that's a favourite every year.

Suggs makes sense because he is a defensive playmaker in the shape of Smart. I like that profile of player, I like Aaron Gordon, Josh Hart, Suggs, Smart etc. They impact winning to a large degree from their hustle.

Personally, I'm going for Hart over Suggs, everyday of the week, especially if Knicks do the Giannis trade.
