Well, I think most of us would. I know I would. Not that there's anything wrong with the other choice. Just saying. Allegedly. Maybe. Good. Thanks.

yes! this is what i've wanted. hopefully, we've targeted someone and will nab them shortly after the playoffs so that they can be involved in the offseason.

Hope this means we are inching ever closer to Rob's departure.

i actually don't care if rob stays; he just can't do the job alone, and he definitely can't do it with the rambii. let's bring in a basketball ops person who's been trained up in the system. who's presti or connelly's right hand person? we need to get in with the fraternities out there.

Rob got Luka and put together the 2020 title team. Pretty obvious I'm not a "fan" of this FO (I hated the AC move, letting Godwin go, not trying to duplicate teh bubble strategy) but he's hit on a bunch of stuff and a GM who gets you a title and Luka should probably be given a longer leash

Rob is not the problem, the Buss family is the problem. Once we have Walters guys in the fold and start getting some really good direction, I have little doubt that Rob will not benefit from their presence and fit in just fine. if not, then what ever Walter wants is OK with me.

Buss family was atrocious... Let's just be honest! They're all nepo babies who have proven nothing. They're all filthy rich now after incompetence which is a shame.

Balmer is unethical but man, I wish he bought the Lakers! He would have spent anything for the Lakers... watching the Buss family penny pinch while Balmer literally opened up his bank account for the Clippers was just embarrassing.

We don’t talk about Balmer over here. What’s he ever done? Made the worst trade in history?

Let’s not go overboard here bashing the mighty Buss family. Last I checked we won a whole lotta championships with them.

Jerry is gone, Jeannie and her brothers have run the show into the ground. I have supported her throughout her long history but have come to the conclusion that other clubs are run way better than the Lakers have been of late. Not completely her fault, just the cost of doing business passed the Buss family by. Could happen to almost anyone not worth billions. We need to up our game and need more money to do that.

rob's shown enough to be kept around, as i've argued (VERY unpopularly) here for a while. but if he can't play nice with the new front office people walter brings in, he'll have to go, too. that would be twice that he had trouble sharing power and responsibility, and the best front offices all do this effectively these days. we only have good relationships with a few teams, and part of that is probably just the tiny size of the front office. fewer people, fewer connections. and these gms work with their friends (this is how we got luka!).

funny/weird story is that when dallas hired rosas (one of morey's proteges in houston) as assistant gm, the first thing he tried to do was trade dirk to houston, lol. he was quickly fired, but i think it just really drives home the point that this is a good ol' boys club. we already work with the huge disadvantage of being the glamor franchise that everyone wants to take down. we can't be further disadvantaged by not fostering the trusting relationships that grease the wheels on trades. like, what if we knew someone in chicago or portland in any of the past three seasons?

anyway, i'm happy to hear we're expanding the front office and again hope that it happens like...tomorrow.

Yes, I wasn't trying to disrespect Jerry. I just don't like how his children have ran the Lakers since. Nepotism and just relying on the brand name rather than actually making the right decisions.

The money thing is quite simple... would you not agree that giving up Caruso for nothing was a huge mistake? Caruso has been an All-NBA defender since leaving the Lakers. They refused to pay the luxury tax for Caruso and chose THT instead... Balmer would have paid for both! All I'm saying...

I feel for the Buss family, they cannot afford to pay the salary cap tax. It cuts into their family distributions, I guess. Not exactly sure. I mean, I would love to know how much they were all worth before the team was sold. It seemed like they were claiming they could not afford most of the things we hoped they would do. ????

Yeah, the problem is they got rich because of the Lakers so that's all they know.

Most of the other owners got rich and then bought the team so the NBA team isn't even their bread-and-butter.
