We need to give this kid a chance. He's only 24 and has potential. Develop him over the summer, he is going to be very good for us. Do NOT give up on him yet.

Some additional numbers along the same storyline

He's played over 44% of his CAREER minutes this season. That's a massive jump in playing time. It's going to be bumpy.

Good minutes out there from Jake. Played well in his first Laker playoff game.

Solid. Thought it was a bumpy start and he HAS to take and hit 3s this series. The lineup options are going to require that of him.

Shocked he got this against Thompson.

i think he was planning on fouling and then thompson just showed him the ball, lol. iirc, he was fouled prior to that to create the break opportunity. if he's like i was, he was going to make sure that shot didn't get up!

Hopefully the injury isn't serious cause we're low on bodies BUT he was terrible tonight. Worst Laker on the court, that 2nd Q run he singlehandedly swung the momentum to Houston.

    Fouls, TOs, misses. Yikes!

Yeah... ankle isn't good timing. We do need Jake to eat some Bron minutes, or it's more Rui :Javalebarfbag::Kobepuking:

He's definitely not looking like someone you can trust in a playoff rotation: hopefully they get an upgrade over him or Thierro takes his minutes next year

You can't just play like it's a preseason game: that pass that was basically a pass to the Rockets on the fastbreak really turned the momentum and could have cost the Lakers the game. Just a huge shift

Nah man. Disagree. He does do a lot of good things on D. All effort and smart plays. His offense is Vando level... no idea why

I thought he was solid in game 1 though, we do need him out there, at least defensively. It’s sucks because he is a solid defender, hustle player, smart defender at times, but then he has games like this, he’s so up and down. The potential is still there, maybe he can put it together in time.

He certainly helped the Rockets today with his 5 fouls and hilarious offense.

Meh I think because people like hustle guys they ignore how he gives up dumb fouls on defense and isn't taht good of a defender.
If he didn't hustle and act like he cared, people would be yelling like he was cardio gabe

Disagree vehemently. He is a good defender and can actually defend 2 - 4 fairly well. Some 5s (he did good on Suckgun switches today).

He had the worst advanced metric of any Lakers in part because he wasnt good on defense as people think he is and he was terrible on offense. Other advanced metrics are kinder to him on defense but he's not some defensive stopper

Still believe in him, he has the potential to develop into a very good 2-way role player. Give him some time, such games are to be expected from a guy as young as he is and this should be a ver valuable learning experience for him.

I get this argument, but I still think he’s a solid defender. He stands his ground against much bigger players, he gets a lot of deflections leading to steals, he doesn’t often bite on pump fakes. Could also be he looks better because he’s next to some awful defenders like Rui, but I genuinely do appreciate his effort and how he plays, I really don’t think it’s fake hustle.
