Now this idea right here is a starting point and one I might strongly consider given the rest of the parts...

Obviously AR is a very good player. That goes without question.IMO a guy like Murray can do the things AR can do offensively but is more athletic and defensive oriented.Much more of a two way player than Austin and to me a better fit next to Luka.If Marcus had a more well rounded game he would be the better fit next to Luka than AR.

Murray is 15ppg on 52 eFG%, 30% from three, and hasn't been a great defender since he left San Antonio. AR is a way better player than him right now (not at this exact second since he's in a bit of a slump, but this season on the whole AR has been way better). I agree with Abeer that something like Murphy + Murry for Austin and maybe something else small is interesting, but I don't think the Pelicans would actually do that.

I don’t believe any GM’s would trade Murphy for AR straight up so yeah nobody is going to add on to that. AR is a very good player but people here really overrate his value

Murray has played 5 games since coming back from injury.Let’s let him finish the season and see where he stands

agree with sk on murray--he was trending down before the major injuries.

i also won't go as far as to say murphy is more valuable than AR. maybe NO thinks that, but i don't.

    upload_2026-3-5_16-10-10.png

both players are poor defenders, despite murphy's physical appearance indicating something else.

now, murphy's real value is he's on a great contract for his production. but you pay more for guys who can credibly carry an offense like reaves has shown.

so when i said i'd trade reaves for murphy AND murray, i was factoring murray as a slight negative/risk.

The only way AR can be your second best player and be a true contender is if you have a deep athletic team

Well then let's get some athletic players. There's a ton of them.

Remember, we could have kept players like Caruso, KCP, Lonnie Walker, and Goodwin (even Christie, who maybe could have replaced with Knecht at the time).

Not to mention completely botching the draft with JHS and Knecht. There are good players that can be found later in the draft as well, like Trey murphy iii (17th), J-Dub (12th), Jaylin Williams (34th), Mark Williams (15th), Duren (13th), and Kessler (22th), all drafted in the past 4 years.

If Austin can fetch 2-3 elite role players, that may be an option, but starting this summer we need to fill out the roster by ADDING players. Trading away AR for a similarly talented player, that may or may not fit with Luka, is a lateral move at best, and really makes no sense. To be a real contender, we'll eventually have to re-acquire a 1st/2nd option like Kyrie/AR that can score 25+pt efficiently and carry an offense when Luka is absent.

Let's see what we can ADD through the draft, cap space, and other trades first. Trading AR can always be revisited after we fill up the roster.

I've come to appreciate this forum. Well, I think they highly overrate Reaves, some of the posts on X are extremely crazy.

He hasn’t reached 20 points in I think 7 games in a row now? Very odd, something feels off, only took 11 shots again.

What I've noticed is the bad starts he's getting off too or the lack of aggressiveness. It's weird. He got it going in the second half, but it's been strange. We need to get him going early, if possible.

He bricked a bunch of early shots though. One reason Denver got out of the big lead is he missed those

I don't know what's going on with him Lebron seems perfectly content to have Reaves run the pNR with him running screens

I don't know either... we need peak Reaves to actually compete and this is not it.

thought this, too, but then i remembered the bulls have more cap room than they can possibly spend, need a scoring guard, and have been VERY PLEASED with the poaching of our homegrown backcourt players.

Some things never change around here.
Trade Austin for a bag of peanuts since it’s all his fault he plays on a poorly constructed, unbalanced roster.
    Brilliant.

Could be that his calf is still not 100%, but probably a mix of a whole lot of issues like loss of explosiveness due to conditioning, uncertainty of role on team, lack of offensive rhythm, and mental slump following his injury. Not really worried. I'm willing to bet he'd be back to scoring 25+ if LeBron takes a few games off.
