10 games total. So no we haven’t really seen our team all together much. Hopefully we can get and stay healthy going forward and see what we have. Ayton has also been in and out as has Rui. Of course Smart too but that was expected.

I’ve got some hopes for this team if we can keep our big three at least healthy. It’s actually a pretty balanced group with the shooting of Rui and Kennard, the D of Smart and Jake and Vando and the playmaking and scoring from Luka AR and LeBron. Ayton needs to step up his play a bit more though especially defensively from here on in. I like Hayes as our backup 5 and Maxi as a tough vet off the bench as our third string big. I think we can make some noise.

You could have all the other guys you want but Gianiss single handily took over a finals series NBA finals and just took the championship from Devin Booker and Chris Paul. Played defense. Got blocks. Got rebounds. Caught lobs. Made shots. Made clutch shots. Couldn’t be stopped. Was the best player on the floor. Sign me up for that. In a 7 game series you know what you’re going to get from him.

LOL .... well you've certainly got the "Big Ones".

Incoming (maybe) Mod on Mod fight over such a sacrilegious statement.

LeBrons gonna go on a run. He looks spry out there.

The way he was talking this is like what 20 games of peak LeBron active extremely athletic.

the key is the other guys. Luka has to be a superstar and the Lakers can actually do this and win a championship.

the pick protection thing is good, but the rest are pretty stupid

not letting teams pick top 4 after making the conference finals is especially dumb because you're penalizing teams for being good, which basically goes against trying to curb tanking

It's going to take a min to get a Luka led team, IMO. It might take 3-4 transaction cycles to get this right. I'm fine with it as long as we're seeing progress, but we really need to thread this needle. If we don't, next VP of Basketball Operations Up, please? LOL.

I don’t mind the updates to the draft but they gotta loosen up the CBA. They basically have created a system that makes it really hard to add talent or hold together a team you build up through drafts and good additions. Something has to give.

low key my a**. the spurs have done it twice now. both times got INCREDIBLY lucky*, so other teams think it's a model now.

*seriously, everyone talks about luck with our management, but winning the TD and wemby lottos is absolutely insane. players of that quality come around once a decade at best. and the spurs just d***ing around at the right time.

the only lotto ideas i like are stretching odds over two years or preventing consecutive top-4s. i'm ok with working on protections, but i like having some optionality there.

regarding the cba, i actually liked having some actual basketball ramifications for overspending, tbh. ballmer and lacob made an absolute mockery of the attempts at financial control. i still think if you get rid of the max contract but keep other rules, you'll get parity and creativity. i also think rookie contracts should have player options, not just team options. like, wemby should have been supermax last year instead of playing for sub-mle.

problem is that both players and owners hate what i said above because for players it could (at least temporarily) harm the middle class player (though i'd argue smart gms avoid the full mle for several reasons related to this), and for owners they could get totally burned by overpaying for a superstar. like imagine you get desperate and pay brad beal 60 million per. you're screwed. it's over. the owners want protection from their own stupidity, and i hate that. you guys are supposed to be super smart, so...just don't screw stuff up like that.

tl;dr: let rookies opt out (with full bird rights) and get rid of the max. make it so that multi-year tanks are a bad idea. those things could fix a lot for the on-court product.

Players will never give the max back. Players will never get rid of max contracts.

All the players care about is that Max contract protection. Once you get that you can play anywhere Siberia Orlando.

The Max Contract is why Paul George is who he is. He could give a f*** about a Championship. It’s that max and that super max. When am I eligible? The players want that. They come out of College wanting that. Ask John Wall.
