    He's another defensive/non-shooting 4 like Vando.

I’d waive Maxi in a heartbeat. DK is still on the books for another year.

no. the spurs tried pretty hard to make him useful. popovich even spent the better part of a year trying to turn him into a pg. he's had way more opportunities than bufkin during a similar period of time.

that said, i thought about him as a buy-low project this summer. but as sk said, we already have vando. you can't have two vandos. you can barely have one (and i'm a vando fan).

We could have two Vandos..if we had a coach that knew what he was doing. That's the guy that Vando had his little post game face mush with tho, I wonder what that was about?
    :Kobe Shrug:

On another note, I'm really surprised that Stewart only got suspended for 7 games, for leaving the bench and throwing punches, he's an officially stamped bad boy now. Lol...after LT made all that fuss, about how Lebron smacked this good kid, and should have paid his fine! FOH ...Isiah is a certified goon. We could use him too tho!

TBH..I think JJ would have given Cam some run if he was still here. The league is changing a bit, we could use a couple of long 6'7- 6'9 guys that can get out there, and get a little handsy, and physical on the perimeter, that can get under guys skin. You hope they could hit a shot or two, along the way to go with the rough stuff. I think Luka and Austin are going to need a couple, of Bully type perimeter mates after Lebron, Smart is a bit too small, but he's potentially a good guy, for the grooming of these type of guys. Thiero has some potential in this regard, and I'll go against the grain here as usual, and say that I'd trade Rui for Dort, he's a bit short like Marcus, but he's still in his physical prime.

He's better than Vando, imo. While similar in shooting ability, Sochan is excellent at finishing around the basket. And he's still 22, there might be room to develop the shooting.

Yeah I don't really start paying attention to the college kids anymore , until around this time of the year. Cenac is a local prospect, a young big that has some potential IMO.

This is a rare case of me not agreeing with you. Hard to say the Spurs tried hard to make him useful when they didn't really play him at his natural position. He never played the PG spot before the NBA, which is BTW the most difficult spot to play at. How many young players would succeed in such a situation?

IMO, he's more talented offensively than Vando and seems to be a hard working guy with some upside. I still believe in him and would love to have him on this team. I may be wrong, but I would be surprised if he doesn't have a long career in the NBA as a very solid role player.

I see many similarities between the Spurs-Sochan and the Warriors-Kuminga managements.
The main difference, obviously, is that, as of February 12, 2026, it's still unclear what Sochan's role in the NBA is: given that he's not a PG at all and is undersized for a C, his complete lack of shooting range makes it extremely difficult to place him in another position.

Cam Thomas with an offensive volume that wouldn't have been seen here even through binoculars.
Okay, he scored 34, but he essentially stopped the ball whenever and wherever he wanted, monopolizing the Bucks' offense: it's literally what he did when he was with the Nets and objectively something that's within his capabilities, but it's also a style of play that won't get him anywhere other than being a ball-hog for a mid-to-low-ranked NBA team.

I don't like the character and the team even less, but I admit that Kawhi, as an MVP in 2026, is a pleasant surprise: as a basketball fan, seeing him play like this can only bring me pleasure.

Of course, I hope the Clippers don't even make the play-in

I see Morez Johnson on Michigan as the goon/enforcer type. He's not crazy like Isiah Jackson but I agree we need someone to intimidate people around the rim. Seems he's working on the jumper too and will most likely be available in the late first/early second.

i think he has a little more skill than vando and has been healthier, but his shot hasn't developed at all, so his ceiling is pretty firm.

the reason i brought up the pg thing was that to me, instead of something stupid like kidd playing flagg at pg for the first 10 games of his rookie year, this was done AFTER sochan had struggled to play at the forward spots (because nobody guarded him, like vando). popovich obviously took a strong interest in him, and he got three full years of 25+mpg to try and sort stuff out. that's more than most guys who are net negatives get. knecht averaged 19 last year, 11 this year, and has only played more than 20 minutes like, 8 times this season. jhs NEVER played 20 minutes in a game here before his contract was not renewed and he was unceremoniously dumped.

this isn't to say those guys are better or deserved it more, just that sochan sure has gotten opportunities and hasn't shown tremendous growth.

if we didn't have vando under contract (that can't be moved until the 2028 deadline, imo), i'd probably be interested. and i wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be a better vando somewhere soon.
